If you recall, Amazon threw them a lifeline as iRobot was struggling to compete with China. This was known but our competition laws and politicians fought this. Now it’s bankrupt. Preventing mergers and acquisitions has happened with other failed businesses. I’m not sure the logic in letting business fail.

That's crazy and very sad. They make amazing products. Maybe too good. My current mop and vacuum are both 5 years old and performing amazingly well.
I've tried Shark and another chinese knockoff and neither was half as good as my iRobot / Roomba products.

You kind of just made the argument for planned obselecense, sadly
You're punished if you make a good product that lasts.

I think what's really hurt them is the 3d printed knockoff parts for their robots.
I get a 2 years supply on Amazon for $29 and thats $79 per year that iRobot probably planned to get but never did.
Nespresso is able to make money on refills and iRobot was not.

Probably due to bribes, I mean lobbying. Why was Sirius and XM allowed to merge leaving no paid subscription competition at the time but DirectTV and Dish Network, who compete with cable companies were not allowed to merge due to lack of competition in rural areas. A stronger unified sat TV company might produce better rates to all

The reality is the Chinese products were better, you can just watch YouTube comparisons which is why we got a Chinese product.
Also, it wasn’t any cheaper, still around $800 from Costco. Believe it or not, some companies fail because they have a worse product.

By design. China owns our politicians.

As long as Boston Dynamics is healthy... don't care.

Biden’s DOJ blocking the spirit airlines merger was absolutely absurd

This is sad. I think it was an irobot cat shitter I got for my 37 cats and it sucked. Also the auto vacuum wasn't my thrill of the year.
Whoever makes Rosie the robot first will win. Also a button in a headboard that hands comes out to deep massage for hours...

I watched the videos on Vacuum Wars and replace my old Roomba 880 with a Dreame. I also bought an upright mop/vacuum by Dreame.
I had to return the upright because the pump didnt work out of the box.
I am currently sending back the robot for repair as the side brush doesnt work after 2 months.
I never had these problems with the Roombas. Ive owned 2 Roombas. The only reason I had to replace them was the insane amount of dog hair that they were subjected to. I actually damaged them while trying to clean the dog poop from the insides.
My new dog doesnt shed so there is minimal load on the Dreames

Chinese knock offs took them out.

The fact is they laid off most of their employees and are now owned by a Chinese manufacturer. How is that a better outcome for US taxpayers, consumers, citizens and workers?
