I’m sure there is lots of high fives and fist pumps at Airline this morning. Gayle pulled off a DH win last night.

I think we’re only like 6 games out of a play-in spot. I’m not saying we are going to go on a run, but like, there’s not a 0 percent chance we make the playoffs.

When you look at teams 10-15, there is ample opportunity to make a huge move up.

10. Jazz- they are going to strip down and tank. Firesale is coming.

11. Blazers- injuries are hurting them. They want to load up for next year. But they could be steady.

12. Mavs- about to reset around Flagg. Not sure if Irving comes back this year.

13. Kings- already shopping everybody. Tank and rebuild already underway.

14. Clippers- old and in free fall. I knew they were a mirage last year. They have no reason to tank. They might be buyers, but they will not take in salary (they have a clean sheet in 2 years).

Even the Warriors and Grizzlies (8 and 9) are starting to slip and are exploring big moves. It's not crazy for us to jump into the mix. We are a 1/3 of the way through the season. If we can shrink that gap to 2-3 games in the next 1/3, we'd be set up for a big push at the end of the season. Over the next 27, we have to hit double digit wins in that section, 10+ at a minimum (probably need to be closer to 12 to be a threat)..

yeah not happening they’d have to play better than .600 just to get close. Only goal should be play the rookies, find a trade partner for Zion, and get that pick out of the top 4 just for the sake of pride

Are you saying the playoffs or just to make the playin?

We could easily be top 12 within the next 10 games. Getting into the top 10 will be tough. But if we have decent health, we should stay top 12 to finish the year and threaten for the playin.

We aren't going to tank, so we'll be trying to win. We can't control the lottery, so it could always hit top 3 no matter what. But I don't think we'll end up bottom 6 at the end of the year. Best way to develop the rookies is playing solid minutes and roles on a high effort team surrounded by motivated veterans. I don't want them putting up fat stats in 30 point blowouts..

Actually Grizzlies started winning afte rJa got injured, but now he is back so hopefully they will start losing again. But unless they blow it up they are a lock for play-in.
Warriors will have a winning record at the end, unless Curry have few more injuries.
But getting to 10-12 spot is very realistic, especially if we win 5-6 of the next 9 games, which is not so unbelievable.

Exactly, Playin should be the goal for now. If this team can start playing .500 basketball moving forward we would excite the fan base and build towards the future….and maybe even see what we have in Dejounte.

For us to move up we would at the very minimum keep the same team and be fully healthy and most likely make moves to add guys. Which is completely opposite of what we need to be doing. We need to sell sell sell and get worse. For the long term outlook of this team we don't need to try and make some play in run. It would never happen anyway but it would be dumb to try.

I'm not saying tank because that's pointless with no draft pick, but trade Zion, Herb, DM, possibly Trey, and get assets and young guys and be bad this year but just develop the young guns.

We are playing 11 guys every game and when healthy could go to 13 (Peavy and Hawkins were DNP vs Bulls) and that's without Dejonte, but you think we will make moves to add players?
Right now JB is doing exactly what Dumars said in the beginning - establishing a playing style which goes 10-11 deep and not counting on one player. Every time we are finishing the games with different 5 and we are seeing glimpses of how we would like to play going forward.
Therefore to trade Zion, Herb, Dejonte and Trey makes no sense at all.
Only Zion or Herb should be traded if there is a proper offer, but definitely not both before the trade deadline (in the summer is a different story). Another one which should be traded now is Jose, otherwise we will lose him for nothing, like Naji.
Trey have shown that he is the perfect player around Fears and Queen, so we would definitely keep him this and next year and Dejonte has NEGATIVE value right now.

No I don't, at all. I'm saying if you wanted to make a useless play-in push you'd need to improve the team/be buyers not sellers, and that would be idiotic.

There's nothing wrong with us being buyers, as long as we're buying for the long-term and not just for this season.

Just lowering the chances Atlanta gets a better shot at the top of the lottery is a victory at this point
