Fiscal year ‘24 sports financials
Edit: added FY 2023 for comparison.football went from 17mil to 22 mil spending in one year. Wish that was broken down a little further to not include supplies.
FY 2023
Edit again: added most recent TAF financials in case anyone is interested. It’s a lot more to go through.
Tiger Athletic Foundation 2023
This is LSU Athletics’ audited financial report for the FY 2024.
At a high level, it shows across all sports:
Where LSU’s athletic revenue comes from (TV/media, ticket sales, donations, etc.)
How that money gets spent (coaching salaries, facilities, support staff, operations)
Out of all LSU athletics, only 2 actually made money last year, revenue over expenditure. Of course we all know football is one of them. They netted 49 million last year. The only other one not in the red made 1 million. Before you look, guess? Kinda surprised me.
People always talk about the money on here, like how much did lsu spend on football last year? Well here it is. It’s broken down extremely well. Too many talking points to point out after looking at it. Some very surprising and some not so surprising.

Wow. I am EXTREMELY surprised as well. Would've figured baseball or softball...

Elite financials. LSU stacked

BK sucking put LSU in the red. Thanks, BK

I knew that answer. I have no answer for why Track and Field is so damn expensive. Over $2 million just for travel!

I wasn’t surprised by this. Those are typically the only two profitable sports for major players.
Looking at WBB, salaries/wages alone is 2.5x total revenues generated.

I'm wondering what revenue was deferred? The balance sheet shows LSU Athletics is negative 35M, but it's only because of that.
Only other surprise to me was baseball not at least breaking even.

If Kim’s WBB is so popular maybe the ticket prices for that sport should be raised. I have 4 season tickets. Between WBB, WSB and gymnastics those 3 sports lose $17M. That’s crazy. I have 9 season tickets between those 3 sports.
This needs to be looked at strictly from a business standpoint. How can we justify losing $8M on women’s BB?
Give Jay the money and make a deal that each guy who goes through the program and becomes a multimillionaire in MLB give back 2% of their incomes.
Make that deal on women’s sports and you’ll still be broke.

Title 9 makes your proposal messy. You're not wrong, but this is what dumb laws do to businesses when you take actual merit out of it.

I love LSU baseball. I didn't think it would make us a lot, but I never expected it to be a net loss...

I hope you're not being serious. This is a choice. Most athletes do give back to the program but it should still be their choice.

BK doesn’t deserve credit for anything. Football would make $50M if Curley was the coach. In fact we would have made more since Curley would have done the job for $1,000,000 vs. $10M and gotten the same results.

I did too. Just imagine what that number could be if you have a tourney team and sold out arenas and increase season ticket holders with a good coach and product on floor. I’d be curious to know what basketball netted each year WW was here.
Dumb question but what revenue is athletic admin generating? What that’s revenue item include?

Jesus. Search for Unrecorded Revenues must be a pain for the auditors

Too lazy to look it up but I think its been that way for a while. We have broken even/profited but that isnt the norm.

Of course. I’m just saying give Jay the money and we’ll be some proud of the results and the money these guys will earn will be phenomenal. This will in turn result in a huge return for LSU. Can that happen in women’s beach volleyball? It can’t even happen in the WNBA.
This Title 9 thing should be unconstitutional. It’s like giving all the kids a participation trophy. It’s subsidized like way too many things in government and costs way more than it returns.

Baseball would be positive if Jay would quit spending so much time in Omaha, those hotel rooms ain't cheap

Sports productions, is that all media or just LSU media?
Also merchandise, that's just merch sold at games and events?
Only reason i'm asking is that there is still more revenue that should be counted, I think.
Licensing, TV contracts, SEC revenue, etc. Or is that included in those numbers?
Do you have daughters?
