Daughter overuses the word "like"

My teenage daughter uses the word "like" multiple times in every sentence and it's driving me bonkers. I've tactfully brought it to her attention several times, worked with her to slow things down but it seems as if it's just getting worse, akin to a Tourette's tick. It's so bad that it's hard to follow along with what she's saying. Is there anything that can be done?

Teenage daughter drives dad crazy. Story as old as time.

Her and every other teenage daughter in America, just their vernacular

As a retired speech teacher I feel your pain. My go to was when my students would speak to me and use five or six likes at a time, I would ask them to repeat the question because all I heard were 6 likes. After a while they got the message and thought about what they were going to say before they said it. The way they say like is used as a filler word.

Not all crazy is equal.

Better than saying “right?” after everything

As an employer of mainly 18-23 year old women i can tell you it is a filler because they have not thought about what they are going to say. Their first inclination is to externalize

The best is the use of, "ummm" in conjunction with - like. "Like, ummmm."

If you start doing it too, she'll probably cut back on it. You know they don't wanna sound like the olds.

Start saying bro to her
I would start saying shite like "no cap" and "rizz" and "fr fr" until they stopped
Plus it would be hilarious

Start, like, using "like" even more than, like, she does when, like, talking to, like, her.

Throw in "literally" and you've got the trifecta

When I was in 7th grade, I had an English & history teacher who disliked it when people said "well" all the time. She told us at the beginning of the year if anyone said "well" unnecessarily, she would say "hole in the ground" every time. People got tired of hearing that fairly quickly, and most of us learned to improve our speech patterns.
So, maybe start doing something annoying when she says "like". It may be a losing battle since you're not with her all the time, but my teacher was only with us two hours a day, and her technique worked.

I've got a 13YO girl and thankfully she is very cognizant of her use of the word. It was drilled into her and her class last year and miraculously, it has stuck.
She's WAY better about her use of the word than my 40+ yo GF.
Now if I could just get her the F off of Tik Tok and to lose the attitude a bit we'd be great.

I do this often with my 13yo especially when she's on the phone with one of her little gf from school. It's particularly great when it's a Facetime call.

Probably got her dad’s genes.

I always heard that strip club managers can dock their girls' pay if they're late or miss a shift without technically violating any employment laws. How do you do it at your club?
