Anyone have a glass eye or have intimate knowledge of someone who does?

Does the eye stay in overnight or can it be kept in for prolonged periods? Is there relief when its taken out or does it feel better in? When its out, do you have to be careful of stuff getting inside the socket and causing irritation when the glass is put back in?

I always think an eyeball that doesn’t move looks weirder than an eye patch.

Intimate Knowledge?
Eye socket?
WTF?
Believe that was a quote from Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket!

I worked with a lady that had one, it was so well made that I didn't believe her when she told me she had a glass eye. She popped it out one day and that was that, lol. IIRC, it was minimal maintenance, about like contact lenses but a little bit more. On a side note, she was really ditzy, I used to tell her she was blind in one eye and blonde in the other.

Never known anyone with a glass eye, but did have an uncle with a wooden eye. He was very self conscious about it, never really went out, just stayed home all the time. Finally his family convinced him to go to this social function for people with physical deformities, thinking that being around others dealing with things like that would help him see that he wasn't some freak.
He goes and is having a good time. This one gal with an amazing hourglass figure catches his eye; her only physical issue is a cleft lip. As the evening goes on, they start playing music; my uncle gets up the nerve, walks over and asks her if she would like to dance. She immediately responded "Oh, would I, would I!" My uncle turns red, yells at her, "Hairlip! Hairlip!" He leaves the event and never goes to anything like it again in his life.

Whey I was 12 hit my friend Freddie in the back of his head with a football. He bent over and put his hand over his left eye and I looked down and his eye was on the ground looking at me...Scared me to death but he said no big deal that was his glass eye.
That is how I learned he had lost his eye playing with a butcher knife.

One of my good friends has one. Maintenance for it is about the same for contacts. He takes his out and cleans it every night with saline solution and then pops it back in. Sleeps with it in most of the time if I remember correctly, but he does clean it every night and morning.
