Not trying to depress anyone, this just becomes more and more apparent. I’ve been seeing a lot of young people dying from various causes (accidents, self harm, diseases, overdose, etc.) Their life was just starting and now it’s over. You only get one life and once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

How do you deal with the fact that any day could be your last day on Earth? I know we have to live for today, and make the most of our time with loved ones, it just feels like that time is so short, and life is so fleeting.

If it ain't that deep, there should be a discount.

I just don't think about it, enjoy living life, try it.

I don’t worry about it and I live life to the fullest.

I’ve lost my only sibling 10 years ago and my father passed last year. I had an aunt that died after hip replacement surgery a few months ago. She got pneumonia while recovering and it went downhill fast.

I appreciate what I have and what I have experienced. I literally try to live for the moment because who knows when it’s over.

Poorly.

Nah, I remember the very first time it hit me that I was mortal. I was 19. From there my health anxiety was through the roof, I’d say until about 2020. A good decade of my life ruined.

I deal with it now by trying to be grateful every day I’m alive.

When it’s a nice day I take a walk and think “isn’t it nice I’m not in prison. Do you know what some of those people would give to be in my shoes right now?”

That sort of thing. It works. Just feel the wind. Know you’re alive. There’s nothing better as long as you accept that moment.

Honestly, that is why I retired this year. I enjoyed my job however, you only have a limited number of days on this earth and I didn’t want to spend any more of them dealing with assholes.

Retirement turns out to be my best years yet!

It’s an interesting feeling hitting an age where I’m not older but I’m no longer young. I’m 41. Still plenty of health and life ahead of me.

But I’m not part of the youth and never will be. I saw a beautiful woman, late 20s, pushing a stroller with a toddler in tow. I thought about what her life is like right now. Planning and establishing her family. Probably saving up for the forever home. Getting nested and vested in their community. Building wealth for the future. Experiencing the joys of parenting for the first time. Still delighted and surprised by what life can offer.

I’ve done all of that. I’m now planning the other side of the mountain. The descent. Sending my kids off to their own lives, supported and ready. Ensuring I can be healthy and safe as I retire. Leaving the community a better place than I found it.

It’s weird.

Death awaits us all, for some it's better to live in denial, others are blessed with living with the obvious

with the knowledge that I cannot miss it when I’m gone, because I’ll be dead. There is no reason to fear death since I won’t know I’m dead

It is fact that none of us are getting out of here alive. What happens beyond life depends on your family’s & friends beliefs. Life after death, the afterlife, who knows. I try to live each day as best that I can, and to be as kind as I am able. Just in case…
