McMahon quote after Texas Tech loss

"You look for the game, get outscored 27 points from behind the arc. That's the difference in the game."
I wish that was the only reason LSU was blown out.

Can we be honest here?? The SOS before that game was a joke. They were run out the gym by a team with a pulse. It’s just more of the same. Why would anyone think it would be different this season??

I will say it was hard to get over the fact that they couldn't miss a 3 and we had max and sutton wide open to go 0-9. While it wasn't the only reason we lost, no matter how well we played otherwise we weren't winning that game going 4-24 from the three point line. No way.

Said this early on but there were far too many posters bashing me calling me a hater when I kept saying pump the brakes on this team being different from the rest. CMM has not earned the benefit of the doubt of fielding a competent team yet. The schedule has been arse for a reason.

Wait, are you insinuating that LSU getting outrebounded by 13 boards had something to do with the loss also.

Dang, LSU MBB looked really strong in the beginning. I actually thought this was going to be their year.
Well hopefully they can finish well in the SEC Championship Tournament.
Hope springs eternal.

Meh...when your shooters can't make a shot, those rebounds go to the defense mostly. Missed shots=defensive rebounds=getting out rebounded

The offense is allowed to rebound?

In isolation you could say it was just one really bad shooting day for LSU and one great shooting day for the opponent. However, this is back to back games where LSU shot less than 20% from 3. In fact, over the course of the last 4 games, which conicides with a step up in competition relative to the first 5 games, LSU is shooting 32% from three...and much of that is propped up by a 39% effort vs. DePaul. LSU was under 30% vs. Drake, BC and Texas Tech.
They've generally been able to overcome that because they, until the last 2 games, shot really well from 2 and made a lot of FTs. Maybe it's just a slump. Or maybe it's the result of playing an ACC and Big 12 team. I guess we will learn a bit more with a game vs another ACC team this weekend.
One game, good or bad, doesn't define a season. As an LSU fan you hope things are different this year. But when you struggle to beat a bottom of the ACC team and get blown out by a top 1/3rd Big 12 team the moment you jump up in competition you aren't going to win over many believers when you have a losing overall record over three years and a really, really, bad record vs. power conf. opponents during that time.

It pretty much was. We need a good 3 pt specialist. We played a good 2nd half.

I thought this team was supposed to be able to shoot.

Another blowout loss, another "Aw, shucks" answer from McMahon. I've tried to be positive around this team, but the reality is stark. The good part is that LSU should win more SEC games this year since the bottom of the SEC is down and LSU gets South Carolina, Miss State, and A&M x2. And home games vs Mizzou, Georgia, and Oklahoma are winnable on paper.
Absolute 0% best chance scenario, LSU wins all of those and takes 1 game vs the top half of the SEC and we're looking at 10-8 and dancing!
My prediction? 7-11 final SEC record; McMahon relieved of duties in February after bad losses @Texas or @Ole Miss.

No doubt, this team could potentially win the SWAC.
