Dodgers preparing mega trade for Tarik Skubal

Smoke coming out of the Winter Meetings is that the Dodgers are preparing a mega package for Tarik Skubal. Talks are heating up and a deal could be incoming. If this does indeed happen, congrats to the back to back World Series champs for continuing to improve and put the best possible product on the field every year!

Why would the Tigers trade their ace? Weren’t they on the doorstep of the World Series a couple months ago and are a team on the rise?

Because he can be a free agent after 2026 and they may not think they can resign him. So they trade him now for a bunch of prospects instead of getting nothing if he walks via free agency. It’s happened before with players.

Ken Rosenthal wrote a piece in The Athletic that said if they are not going to trade him then they need to step up to plate and go balls out to win right now. Which means spending more money. I don’t know if Detroit can swim in that end of the pool.

This is BS. Tigers will let him walk before trading him for peanuts. He also wants to be in Detroit and Detroit might just pay him top $$$.
