AFTER the victim had been stabbed

I know it's Portlandia, but what in the effity eff?!?

quote:

A Portland jury acquitted a man who admitted to stabbing a stranger after video captured the victim using a racial slur in the aftermath of the attack.

Multnomah County prosecutors charged Gary Edwards, 43, with second-degree assault for the July 7 knife attack on Gregory Howard Jr. near the Union Station MAX stop, according to Oregon Live. Edwards faced five years and 10 months in state prison under Oregon’s Measure 11 sentencing law.

Defense attorney Daniel Small told jurors the key evidence came later, when security officers recorded Howard shouting the racial slur on body cameras.

“What other than racism could explain why Mr. Howard perceived hatred, animosity and aggression from a complete stranger,” Small asked the jury.

1. Randomly stabbed a victim
2. Gets offended at the response by the victim
3. The jury felt sorry for his being offended
4. The victim is guilty in the court of leftist opinion

That’s VOR and low-t’s blueprint.

The defence argued the stabbing was self-defence against racism.

So, he was defending against racism by stabbing a man before he was being racist?

What would the jury say if this incident was between a black male and another black male?

Fine upstanding citizen:

quote:

Edwards, who was acquitted on Oct. 31, has previous convictions for attempted second-degree assault in 2021, and was sentenced to three years in prison for a separate stabbing at a Portland light rail station in May 2020.

He was also accused of fourth-degree assault over a fight with a store clerk, but the case was dismissed in June because of a lack of available public defenders.

How was that evidence allowed into trial. It was irrelevant to the trial at hand.

wonder what would have happened if the victim had brought a gun to this "knife fight"

Does not appear to have been "random" at all. Both were homeless men with long rap sheets. Smart money says that there was a pre-existing beef between them.

The "victim" assaulted the defendant (without a weapon), and the defendant then stabbed him ... arguably in self-defense.

The jury clearly believed the self-defense claim.

The slur occurred later. Honestly, it should not even have been admitted into evidence.

Now do the rap sheet for the "victim."

They were both repeat offenders.

Why did you put “victim” in quotation marks? The guy admitted to stabbing him. He is a victim no matter how much of a piece of shite he was before being stabbed.

Because it seems that he initiated the confrontation AND struck the first blow, at least per the two articles that I read.

When you initiate a confrontation, you don't get to claim "victim" status in my neck of the woods.

You don't trust juries. We get it.

But do your damned research, rather than accepting ragebait, before you accuse another man of lying ... you POS.

He didn’t initiate shite. The guy already had has his fixed blade knife out and was trying to sneak up behind the victim. The victim sees him and pushes him away. This is a guy that has stabbed multiple people before. It can easily be deduced that if he has a knife already out and is sneaking up on someone he intended to stab him.

And these homeless all know each other. I’m sure it’s well known around there that this guy carries a knife and isn’t afraid to stab people.

quote:

Video from transit cameras showed Edwards approach Howard, who was sitting on a bench, from behind with a fixed-blade knife in his hand.

As soon as Howard sees Edwards, he jumps up and starts pushing him, and the pair briefly scuffle against a wall before Edwards suddenly stabs Howard in the shoulder.
