Likely one have him for 2 years. He will be a head coach at some point.
Gotta make the most out of it now.
I do think this will be good for both Blake and Kiffin. I think they will pick each others brains. Similar to how Kiffin designed his scheme based of some of the best minds. Blake can improve his game by picking one of the best offensive minds in the game. Same with Kiffin for Blake’s defensive mind.

Everyone is technically a rental

Yup and even Lane is a probably a rental. I would not bet on him retiring here.

Can say that about every good assistant coach. Which is why you want a head coach who calls plays and has his own offense/defense

Every good up and coming position coach is looking to move on to something bigger. Look at Saban's coaching tree. Don't get too invested in coordinators or position coaches. If the Head Coach is good, he'll keep attracting talent

Funny thing is, the only ones that aren’t rentals are us, the fans

Ok, so is every coach
Hell, everyone anywhere working under a contract is basically a rental.

I wonder as well how long he'll be here. Hanny says the era of long-term coaches is over. In most cases that's true. The job by nature is a zero sum game.
But I expect Day at tOSU and Kirby to stay long term. And there are a handful of other sites (of which LSU) is one) where long-,term success is sustainable.
If Kiffin really knocks it out of the park here, let's hope he doesn't repeat Saban's mistakes.

Every coordinator in the game is a “rental”.

Thats exactly right. If you head coach is an elite play caller on one side of the ball, you dont run the risk of batching a coordinator hire on that side, you just take over play calling until you can replace them. Every good coach misses on coordinators every now and again.

I think he is gone after the 26 season. That will give Lane plenty of time to put out feelers.

Players are rentals... they're mercenaries.

Of course he's a rental, but he is the key for continuity for the upcoming season. Technically, I hope he's gone after this season, because that would mean he had a phenomenal season. But without him staying for the upcoming season, we were looking at a complete overhaul of the defensive staff.

We will get at least 3 years out of baker. Who is the last lsu coordinator to stay more than 5 years? It doesn't happen very often

Agree.
If you're bad you're processed. if you're good, you move up/on.
FTR, Jimbo was here from '00 through '06 (7 seasons). Chief from '09 through '14 (6 seasons).

If you’re a good DC or OC you will up for jobs every year for the most part!!! The reason why almost everyone under saban in a head coach now it’s the beauty of the game

The only possible “move up” in his mind would be Bama or the NFL. We might have him for a long time.
