Tulane fans are retarded: The Baker saga.

Twitter is white hot with pissed off greenies.
Baker turned down Tulane because of two things:
1) his idea of improved facilities did not align with their idea of improved facilities.
2) he wanted more NIL, not more salary.
Without these two things in place, Baker’s best hope was repeating this season. That’s it. Tulane is maxed out.
With those two things, Baker could have led the university into a P4 conference.
Tulane folks think ACC, but B12 makes more sense to me. ACC may fit Tulane more from an institutional perspective, but adding Tulane does little for the ACC. The B12 has wanted a foothold in Louisiana and New Orleans would be a signature spot for their championship. Tulane also helps on the academic side of the house.
Nope, Tulane fans think they got jilted by an alum because Baker just wanted more money. frick the fact that Tulane offered more money than LSU.

The Big 12 is a better conference than the ACC anyway and will be around longer
Once the first of FSU or Clemson leave the ACC is done for

Maxed out is a CFP Birth? I thinks that is their mecca they will strive for every year. Tulane will never realistically think they can win it all.

Yeah I noticed all 10 of their fans on social media were pissed.

This was the big sticking point, per source
Look, Tulane has had a great run but it is not a turnkey job. That program can fall to shite just as quick as it’s risen. Even last night, big sections of the stadium were empty
Baker is being very selective, which is smart

I actually think it would be a cool story if Tulane made those kind of strides.
It still wouldn’t compete with LSU, but it would make things more interesting. A fight over a player every few years, maybe an actual game between the two, etc.

Yes, absolutely maxed out. The chances of actually winning a playoff game is small. The chances if winning 2 is almost nil.
Baker goes to Tulane and he’s expected to replicate this season with the same or nearly same resources, even though we have seen a huge jump in resource investment from the likes of LSU and UF and even G5 schools.
It’s an un winnable position.

Talk about your all time frickups Tulane and GT leaving the SEC. Unbelievable.

Would just be history repeating itself. Tulane was a charter member of the SEC, and had a pretty rich football tradition, until they decided at some point in the 60’s they didn’t really want to be serious about football any more.

Memphis and FedEx are all in on this in a way that Tulane is not. Memphis has vastly superior facilities across the board. It’s really not even remotely close and that goes for all sports.
Both along with USF our prime candidates to move up whenever realignment happens, but this coaching search has shown the subtle differences between them and they’re overall levels of commitment

IMO, the loudest and most opinionated people on Twitter are usually not representative of the the larger group that they claim to be, and are usually not the smartest or best informed.
All of my Tulane friends get why Baker is staying. They're disappointed but cautiously optimistic about the next hire.

And almost all of my Tulane friends are also LSU fans. Except one.
Baker is going to learn a lot from Kiffen. This time next year Baker will be a better coach.

Tulane is now program number 3 that thinks they are about to one up LSU, only to be bitch slapped down to reality.

I don’t think any rational Tulane fan believes that dude

What is the likelihood that they land yet another great coach and not Buddy Teevens?
Sumrall is a really good fricking coach. Fritz is quietly building a program in Houston. Baker was the next one, but he wasn’t going to walk into a job with 0 opportunity for growth.

Another one of their default argument points.
Do they not realize you can have both? Newsflash: ND, Michigan, Duke, UNC, Stanford, etc., all are more prestigious academically and all have had athletic success well beyond what Tulane could even dream of in their current form.

Why should they care. Did you see how many loyal Greenies showed up last night to support their team battling for a Playoff spot? The stadium was half full. Baker made the correct decision.

Whoever picked the last two Tulane coaches did a good job, and a lot of the names being bandied about sound like good options for Tulane.
