Historical streak of Heisman running backs will end this year

The Heisman trophy has historically been an award for Quarterbacks as 39 of the 90 (43%) Heisman trophies have been awarded to a Quarterback.
However, for every year ending in 5, the award has always been awarded to a running back. No exceptions.
1935 - Jay Berwanger - Chicago - HB
1945 - Doc Blanchard - Army - FB
1955 - Howard Cassady - Ohio State - HB
1965 - Mike Garrett - USC - HB
1975 - Archie Griffin - Ohio State - RB
1985 - Bo Jackson - Auburn - RB
1995 - Eddie George - Ohio State - RB
2005 - Reggie Bush - USC - RB
2015 - Derrick Henry - Alabama - RB
2025 - ?
That streak will almost certainly end next weekend as only quarterbacks have reasonable odds entering conference championship weekend.
Odds via FanDuel:
QB Fernando Mendoza, Indiana (+165)
QB Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt (+165)
QB Julian Sayin, Ohio State (+220)
RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame (+5000)

That's actually a really cool stat.

lol he’s not even a top 3 rb this season. Hell probably not even top 5. Like usual, Yankee propaganda media crowned him (and Smith) before the season as the best players at their positions and weren’t going to let anything on the field deter them from that narrative regardless of what’s clear to anyone with an IQ north of potato.

43% is "historically been an award for quarterbacks"?
Okay, take away those 39 out of 90, which leaves 51 other Heisman award winners. Out of those, how many were running backs (halfbacks, fullbacks, etc.)
44, more than 39, and nearly HALF of all Heisman winners.

Lol at love getting so much. Hype.
Hardy is the better back, and split carries.

This is the worst Heisman pool I have ever seen.

How crazy will it be that Pavia will probably have a Heisman, but Peyton Manning will not?

What a shitty year. No one really stands out.

I wish this year there was a Mathieu or Suh in the field - they would win
It's an entire lineup of okay/good, nothing great this year

Pavia won't win but probably should. The lawsuit for the extra year and his skeevy family probably turns voters off.

Add to that, more than half(20) of the QB Heismans have been since 2000. 20 in 25 years, 19 in the previous 65. Before 2000, it was overwhelmingly a running back award. Since then, it has been a quarterback award.

Whoever wins would have finished 5th in 2019.
