Yeah. This is big. It’s a huge reason why new vehicles are more expensive but less reliable. Vehicle manufacturers were more worried about squeezing out .5 MPG out of a vehicle and didn’t give a shite about reliability.

The first thing I bet they change is putting the correct oil in vehicles and no longer 0w20 or the like.

that had more to do with crash safety standards than CAFE. CAFE is about fuel efficiency and emissions

Unfortunately unless they can make a law outlawing any sort of CAFE coming back with the next admin in the next 20 years, auto manus aren't going to change their current direction.

Based on size. The bigger the vehicle the less mpg they had to achieve.

Exactly. If Trump was to give Americans a legit chance to buy a reasonably priced Hilux, he'd need to lower tariffs on vehicles that aren't made in the US. Otherwise, they'll be available for a while, but not necessarily at a bargain price.

Great that we're axing Biden's CAFE updates, but we need to further and get rid of Obama's CAFE updates as well. Then do W. Bush and Clinton's. Knock all that out and then maybe we can get GM to re-release the 1998 Silverado Z71.

The emissions and fuel efficiency of vehicles is not exactly a linear scale.
Right now, compact pickups would need to meet standards so restrictive, no one would buy them.

Isn’t this something that should have been eliminated day one in office?

Its also why new cars don’t have a spare tire in the trunk anymore. Reduce the weight = more fuel efficiency.
