Who would have thought Tyrann the Badger would become the successful icon after he was dismissed by Tigers years ago….word was he was very immature and undisciplined
To change his life when he was mentored by PP w Cardinals and continue to have a full professional career and make generational $$.
I’m not sure of this but I don’t believe he was ever in trouble in the NFL
Lastly dude loves LSU and shares some of that $$ w program
Can anyone else name a player who overcame more
Not Cecil
Not Aaron Hernandez
Not Phillips from Nebraska
#just sayin

I love the badger, but all of his struggles at lsu were self inflicted, and I think he would tell you that.

We’ve all done stupid shite in our younger days but Tyrann has shown to be nothing but a professional, standup dude in his adulthood.

Still the most instinctive college football player I’ve ever seen.

Which makes my point. Never blamed LSU or anyone that I know of
He was as a 18 yr old kid when Honey Badger was born
He’s admitted it was a lot

Most people's struggles are a result of their action. The Honey Badger has done well for making the change and deserves a lot of credit.

Patrick Peterson deserves a lot of credit. Great mentor and man.

I don't disagree, but I wouldn't equate getting thrown off your team for continuing to smoke weed with someone losing their parents or having a devastating injury that they came back from

I know what you’re saying, but he had more than his fair share of serious childhood trauma, then some pretty gnarly knee injuries when he went pro that he had to battle back from. And he kinda did lose his parents.

Bingo. Thibodeaux doesn’t know what he is talking about. His father was in prison. His mother was absent due to drug addiction. Raised by grandparents till the grandfather died. Then taken in by his aunt and uncle. Tore both of his ACLs in the pros and still came back and played at an all pro level both times.

He was kicked off the team for smoking weed. I guarantee you there were positive cannabis tests swept under the rug by many programs at that time. Tim Williams from U high went to Alabama and joked about how many drug tests he had failed but never got suspended.

Tyrann Mathieu is the best defensive player in LSU history and has overcome more in this lifetime than most people realize. Not all of his problems were “self inflicted “.

Cris Carter for one. He got himself into some pretty big legal trouble early on.

The worst thing he ever did was just smoke pot right?

Randy Shannon. He grew up in the absolute shittiest of all the shitty hoods in Miami. When he was 3 years old, his father was murdered. His older twin brothers, who became addicted to crack when Shannon was 10, both died of AIDS, as did his older sister.

Yeah they were. I yelled at him about it at the time and I think he blocked me. He had SO MUCH POTENTIAL and he was setting it on fire. Patrick Peterson and his dad are saints for saving that guy.

I agree with you and I’m sure he would also that his journey wasn’t super extraordinary to overcome. But, someone that could have easily slipped into more bad decisions, instead changed and became a leader and an all around good guy deserves to be recognized. True there are many young people who have successfully done this and they also should be recognized but when you have fame and fortune it’s easy to fall of the wagon.

absolutely....during that same time period, I know a kid that was 3rd string Safety for Alabama, and he told us that he and 4 other kids were recruited for two things, to raise the team GPA, and piss in a bowl when called on.
LSU being the idiots they were and sometimes still are in compliance, threw HB under the bus, even to the point of dismissing him from the team, which was ludicrous when compared to what other teams did for pot smoking. I just wanted LSU to play by the same rules that ever other team we played operated under. HB should have won the Heisman and probably would have if Miles/LSU hadn't kicked him off the team.
