Good article but not much new info other than Florida State was the 4th school going after Kiffin (without firing Norvell).
ESPN
The most interesting part to me is this:
The kids name is Bodacious Ignatius. Let that sink in.
ESPN
The most interesting part to me is this:
quote:
Joe Ignatius, an Ole Miss baseball player from 1992 to 1996, watched in disbelief as Kiffin and his assistants left Oxford like diplomats fleeing a foreign country.
"I feel naive thinking it wouldn't happen to us," Ignatius said. "It just didn't have to go this way. It could have been six great years going your way, thanks for what you did. But leopards don't change their spots. And I got fooled, so not what I expected."
Igantius said he felt the worst for his son, Bodacious, an eight-grader, who grew to love the Ole Miss football team.
The kids name is Bodacious Ignatius. Let that sink in.

and for this, he should be ashamed of admitting this openly.

Awesome they wait till national signing day and run an article on the front page headlined "A self-inflicted wound" Why Ole Miss finally had enough of Lane Kiffin

Most interesting part to me:
So Kiffin was having closed door discussions with all his assistants talking about where to go next year and that never got out.
I'm impressed.
quote:
Last month, as some of the biggest college football brands pursued Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin, a staff member polled the team's assistant coaches about where they wanted to be in the 2026 season.
The coaches discussed four options: Remain at Ole Miss, where they had built a legitimate College Football Playoff contender; leave for SEC rivals Florida or LSU; or take over Florida State, which according to people with knowledge of the search, was making a stealth move to poach Kiffin.
So Kiffin was having closed door discussions with all his assistants talking about where to go next year and that never got out.

Complete nonsense. There was no other way he would be leaving without it ending like it did. No better program than Ole Miss would "hope and pray" and wait until January to hire him, and Ole Miss refused to let him coach the playoff after being hired by LSU. Something had to give.

Bodacious Ignatius narrowly beat out Tylenol Antacetomin.

quote:Yeah it could have been like that if the sequence of events wasn’t screwed up by the NCAA. I’m sure Kiffin would have liked nothing more than to finish the season, entertain offers, sign high school players then transfers. But it’s not set up that way and that’s not Lane Kiffin’s fault.
It could have been six great years going your way, thanks for what you did. But leopards don't change their spots. And I got fooled, so not what I expected."

Florida State was the 4th school
