Does that have anything to do with whether or not he could coach in the SEC championship game though?

Doesn’t mean Kiffin didn’t try everything to convince him.

Lane was trying to negotiate it. He wanted to coach the playoff and see the season through obviously.

Class act allowing the OC to go back.

So then why did the dufus AD say we’ll wait to make a decision until after egg bowl?

The PR spin is weak here.

Those are two different things.

Kiffin obviously was trying to convince Ole Miss. I don't think he has said he was blindsided by the decision Sunday morning. He is saying that up until Sunday, that was a possibility in his mind and it's clear he was trying to make that happen.

This doesn't make OM look any better. Honestly, it makes them look worse. I dont blame Kiffin for trying. But, again, OM screwed themselves with their stance.

How does he know what Lane was thinking? Clearly he has no idea since he still thought there was a chance he'd stay at Ole Miss all the way up to the end.

No, that’s not accurate. That’s not accurate. The only thing that was a little bit of a wrinkle in it was the fact that if Auburn had beaten Alabama, we were going to play in the SEC championship," Carter said. "That threw a little wrinkle in it, not to say that he would have coached in that game, but with the shorter time period, that was maybe the only little nuance to it, but absolutely it was very clear that coaching in the postseason was not going to be an option for Coach Kiffin a few weeks ago.”

So it’s basically just a meaningless distinction with regard to the actual situation at hand?

Honestly, it sounds like Carter pandering to the OM fans and telling them what they want to hear.

Also, he just admitted that Kiffin made it clear several weeks ago that leaving was a real possibility.

How can Carter refute LK's claim about what he thought? He doesn't need Carter's permission to think that there may still be a possibility of him coaching.

LK in his press conference clearly said that he was trying to pitch different ideas that would protect OM's interests and allow him to see this through to the end.

All these talking heads with so many opinions, yet not one of them can ask the question of why Kiffin could not coach through the playoffs, yet another LSU employee can?

Ole Miss, Tulane, UNT

2 out of 3 of these schools will be in the playoffs and their regular season coach will be moving on to other jobs

Why can the other 2 schools allow their coaches to complete the season? I mean they are all Div-1 schools that have essentially reached the same level vs their competition.

I think we all know the reason this question won't be asked or answered
