How quickly would Tyrann Mathieu accept an offer from Lane Kiffin to join the LSU staff?

Today he also said he wasn’t opposed to a return to the Chiefs. As a player

If he wants to coach that’s cool. LSU isn’t where he’s figuring it out

It’s crazy how many on this board really think just because a former player played at a high level they are qualified to coach at a high level.

He said he would be fine with being a player development guy in this exact clip.

Cool

He can learn to do that first

Or one of the many other roles he apparently has interest in

You’d think he would kill it recruiting NOLA area kids.

Hopefully not now. He is not qualified and yes he was a great player. But not without a lot of baggage. He needs to go to lower levels and prove out his ability.

Great story. Great tiger. Not sold on having him as a coach. As a recruiter and an ambassador for the program, nobody better.

LSU as a first job is a bad idea. He'd probably move up the ranks quickly, for recruiting ability alone, if he started somewhere like ULL or LaTech.

Most have more of a personnel type role in mind. I dont think anyone is saying put him in as an on field coach.

Do you think Tyrann knows DB techniques at a very high level?

Do you think Tyrann can motivate young people?

Do you think Tyrann will be able to recruit New Orleans?

LSU isn’t where just anyone can start at, but Tyrann isn’t entry level bro.

Lots of people in this thread haven’t been paying attention to how dramatically TM “grew up”.

He’s been nominated by two separate NFL franchises as Walter Payton MOTY. there are A LOT of options less qualified, passionate, and recognizable to young athletes

Why? This isn’t 2 years ago. You can have an unlimited number of on field coaches now. I wouldn’t have him as the DB coach, but you can 100% have him as an on field coach and see how it works out. Obviously Kiffin would have to want it and LSU would have to pay for it, but it doesn’t take up a position coach like it used to.

However off field recruiting hasn’t changed. You can still only have 11 of those.
