I was skeptical of promoting from within, but Verge is awesome. I'm really thankful he's the AD. This video is worth watching in full.

•Lane was a clear #1 target, name kept popping up. Many donors were coming on and upping their donations if we landed Lane.
•Verge said hiring Lane Kiffin, he wants that hire to work out where that’s his legacy at LSU
•I liked his explanation of being the Walmart cart for his coaches. He’s there to financially support them in anything they want or need for the program.
•Another tidbit straight from his mouth the LSU job is a top 3 job in the country, there with Georgia and Ohio State. He knows he could’ve beat around the bush with coach speak best in the country but he kept it real before correcting himself and saying LSU is the best job in the country.

Other than the Ryan Clark reference that was very good. Verge has energy and love for LSU that is evident.
I do doubt that Kiffin’s name kept “popping up” as it already was at the top of the list with a big circle around it. Any other coaching agent calls were just contingency plans.
I think LSU benefitted in recruiting Kiffin given so many things from facilities to finances but they also appeared to be the mature, professional organization this time around.

Verge really impressed there and pretty much proves fat Scott would have never got this done because he didn’t ask the right questions as AD
