Kiffin has always been a bounder, sometimes of his own volition and sometimes because someone else decided for him. He's 50, and it's fair to say in the eyes of most on this board, there are few if any HFC jobs better than LSU.

Assuming LSU does not fire Kiffin (with or without cause), do you think he's here for the long haul (i.e., 10 years or more)?

If he starts winning Natty’s here he is locked in, in my opinion.

He's gonna be fired in 5 and be at aG5 school. Not his last stop, but not leaving voluntarily.

I hope he stays a very long time, but I wouldn't put money on it. In his interview with Marty Smith, he basically said he's a rolling stone. He talked about how his dad moved like 17 times, and tons of people reached out to him when Monte passed b/c he affected so many lives. It seems like Lane wants to follow that path of building something, then moving on to the next thing. If he stays 6-7 years, and we have success in that time, that may be our best-case scenario. If he stays longer, that's just a bonus for us.

Kiffin has always been a bounder,

Except he really hasn't.

Being fired from jobs does not make one a "bounder". The ONLY place he left (arguably) prematurely is Tennessee. But that was for USC, which was the FAR stronger program at the moment AND a place at which he had coached for 6 years. His other move was from FAU to Ole Miss...which I think everyone would agree was a rational upgrade.

Could he leave LSU after only a few years for a "bigger" job? Sure. Anything is possible. But the number of "bigger" jobs than LSU is a pretty small group. Maybe he would want to consider the NFL again. But if that opportunity presents itself it's because he is having great success at LSU...which is kind of the goal for this hire.

To me, the only job that would be a big threat is Texas, for two reasons: (1) There is big money and a desire to win. (2) Austin is obviously a more cosmopolitan city than Baton Rouge. For a guy who LOVE social media attention that's probably a draw.

He’ll retire here.
He won’t go back to the NFL. He’s learned too much from Saban and also his personal time with the Raiders

Nah, when and if that Bama job comes open, Kiffin will bolt.

Collegiate Football has now gone pro and the NCAA is the NFL's bitch.

......Frank Wilson bleeds Purple and Gold.....a reminder of how things once were.

Having said that........

I believe (hope) so.

He is 50 years old. Doesn’t strike me as the “coach until 70” type

He has already scratched the NFL itch.

There isn’t another college job that would be better suited for him.

It’s a risk for LSU. Kiffin’s track record is troubling, but only time will tell.

Too early to say....circumstances change. If he wins a few Championships he could easily ride it out until he hangs it up. Or he could win a few and then want to try it at the NFL level or somewhere else....impossible to say but right now be happy hes here and hopefully he can act quickly in getting a Championship back to BTR.

Where's he gonna go and why?

There are not any other college coaching jobs with significantly better resources, whether it's reputation, money, talent, or facilities.

He may very well have learned from Spurrier and Saban (and Al Davis) that the allure of the NFL far exceeds the rewards.

If he can get out to a fast start and be successful in his first three years, and I think he will, he could be at LSU for the "long haul."

I love how the bar has been raised where multiple national championships is now the expectation.
