Might be a dumb question but will kiffin be on the sidelines for the bowl game

If he did, it would be the first time.
I think he'll be involved behind the scenes but we wont see him actively coaching the team in a meaningless bowl. Optics wise it would be a terrible look

There MIGHT be some NCAA barriers. I do know there are specific rules for recruiting. I don't recall any for coaching other than submitting the contract to both the SEC and NCAA (presumably for clearance for any coaches under sanction).
His first priority is looking at the roster. Saban was ruthless with this when he came in. BK was semi-ruthless too. Miles did roster trimming incrementally over 2 years.
IMHO I see no better way to do this with him running practices and then coaching the game. You get best of both worlds: film and IRL.

Coaching a meaningless bowl game while the team he "abandoned" is preparing for a playoff game.
Not saying I agree with it but would 1000% be the narrative

BK was in a suite during the Texas Bowl when Brad Davis coached the game.

Kiffin will attend the game, but likely won't be on the sidelines unless it is before the game.

Why would he want to tarnish his reputation and diminish excitement for next year by coaching a gutted roster to a loss in a meaningless bowl game?
CLK will rightly do as Kelly did four years ago and observe from the booth.

Yeah he doesn’t want the juxtaposition of coaching in Shreveport with a shitty offensive line while Ole Miss is hosting a playoff game.

Essentially LK will function as the "coach-elect" through bowl season. Roster management and staff control are priorities until spring practices. It's transition time.

I want him involved in the game planning and practice but want him to observe the game. That will give him the feel for what he really need to focus on and self scout for development with players returning.
