If the dynamics being reported here are correct, LSU is in a delicate position.

The assumption here is that LK wants to go to LSU and coach the playoffs, but OM won't let him.
According to various posts:
OM wont fire LK because then they will have to pay a buyout.
LK won't resign because he wants to coach the playoffs.
If true, the only way the impasse can end is if (a) Kiffin acts like a man and chooses one path or another; (b) LSU gives LK an ultimatum to precipitate a final decision (in other words, tells LK he has to accept and resign this weekend or the offer will be withdrawn); (c) OM suspends LK or finds some other way to force his hand and out him to a decision.
Otherwise, the status quo will just continue. LK will continue to coach OM under the existing contract and LSU will have to wait for the playoffs to end for him to make a decision, with no legal guarantee he would ultimately honor his word and choose LSU.
Again, this is a synthesis of whats being reported here. No idea if its actually true or accurate.
What a bizarre situation.

LSU should cut bait if he's that petulant. Sounds like our other options though suck.

LSU needs to sit and be patient. It sounds like Ole Miss will force Lane into a decision. He either signs the extension or he is suspended/fired. Either way he will end up at LSU if he refuses to sign it.

Yeah sure, whatever.

If LSU allows this to continue past tomorrow, it’s on Verge and LSU.
Regardless, no one is worth this…ok, maybe Saban. I even think there’s a good chance the guy might be trolling LSU. I wish that Dillingham tee time thing was actually real lol

I get it. The temptation is to get frustrated and move on, but this a bad coaching cycle. The options after Lane are absolute crap. LSU can wait another few days for Ole Miss to carry out their ultimatum.

There are some decent up-and-comers still available. Make Dillingham tell you no. At least try. If not him, give Golesh a call. He would jump at the chance. At least we don't have to worry about LSU promoting Frank Wilson anymore.

Waiting in the wings...

I ain't reading all that

They're not firing him. They'd owe him $30M+ And they can't just suspend him for no reason. Lane holds all the cards there.
Posted on 11/29/25 at 6:39 pm to DmitriKaramazov
I’m sure there’s a clause in his contract that would prevent them from having to pay his buy out if they fire him after telling them he’s leaving for another school.
Posted on 11/29/25 at 6:39 pm to DmitriKaramazov
Would Lane’s buyout not be offset by the new contract he would sign with LSU?

The drop off from Lane is massive. It is going to be a frustrating few years if we have to train 35 year old Dillingham on the job in the SEC.

Kiffin is a preteen girl as evidenced by his social media posts and inability to make a decision. Everyone would be better off if he stayed at OM including OM

I’m not a lawyer, but Ole Miss fans in the other thread swear they can suspend Lane for not signing the extension. Whether they can or can’t suspend him is irrelevant. Suspending or firing Lane has the same result of driving him away.

Why not?
Seriously, if he is still being paid what would prevent them from suspending and letting Judge coach team?

In this situation from LSU's position I would tell Lane if you want to coach in the playoffs and finish it, fine, but you'll need to sign a contract now that says you'll come to LSU at the conclusion of OM's run. If Lane doesn't sign anything binding, it is time to move on.

The point is irrelevant. If he is suspended with pay Lane isn’t sticking around. He’s off to LSU right away. It has the result we want which is to drive Lane to LSU
