With two crazy arse Afghans planning/committing terror acts in less than a week, is there a difference between racism and ethnic profiling.

I’d say statistics is under ethnic profiling, not racism.

Yes, one is using statistics to shape policy off probability the other is one race just thinking it superior to another. This ain’t rocket science.

Racism is just preferring your race to other races. For all of human history until the last 60 years this was considered normal. It’s been bastardized into being something wrong or bad, but anyone who faults Asians or Hispanics for preferring the company of Asians or Hispanics is a ridiculous person who shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Ethnic profiling is just using data to predict an outcome.

I thought it was worth pointing out because many times when statistics are used, the masses say that using statistics is racist. Anything that makes a useful idiot feel “ewww” works against an argument using proven facts.
That’s all.
That’s all.

Superior is the word associated to shut down dialogue on the subject of racism. I don’t know many whites who believe on average they are superior to East Asians intellectually but they still prefer the company of whites.

Yes? One can see and recognize patterns related to crime. Like most pedophiles are middle aged white guys.

Ethnic profiling can actually be objective and reasonable, in that it looks at probabilites taken directly from objective statistics.
Racism is clearly subjective. Hell, we cannot even agree upon a definition of the term. Me, I think a reasonable definition would be something like "the belief that different races or ethnic groups possess distinct and immutable characteristics, which cause some races to be inherently inferior or superior to one another."
But a lot of people think that ANY distinction between races or ethnic groups (especially when it gives rise to "preference") constitutes "racism," excluding the "superiority" element of that definition.
As an example, it seems indisputable that many Blacks dislike Whites for no more reason than their race/ethnicity and to discriminate against them in various ways. Under my definition, that is certainly bigotry, but not necessarily "racism." Under that second definition, however, it IS racism. Totally subjective.

They will always devolve to claims of "ists" and "isms" when their stances are proven wrong. It's an attempt to divert from discussing uncomfortable truths (truths that disagree with their worldview) by trying to make the conversation about the bias they hypocritically allege of the opposition.

What we now call "racial profiling" used to be called "good police work".

Ethnic profiling allows one to get free stuff from the government.
Racism is pointing out that only a certain profile is getting free stuff from the government.

Yes.
One is a mindset of superiority, the other is a statistics based approach to crime prevention.

And I'm pretty sure it's just profiling. Not anything else before it, just profiling.

Not too long ago, in fact...
