Staying at my mother's place for Thanksgiving and I can't be the only one that still raids their parent's fridge while visiting. I still made some trips to the grocery store to pick up items for them and I actually enjoy it if they use my fridge and pantry while visiting and that goes for all of my family.

I wish my parents were still around, so I had a fridge to raid.
Enjoy them while they are here.

This. Holy hell, every woman over 60 thinks they have to buy 5 lbs of pepper to put in the damn cupboard, 10 bags of shredded cheese and 10 lbs of hamburger meat that they freeze without portioning it. It's unreal. I found something this summer from Obama's administration.

My mom has stopped cooking, she can't really recall how to cook much of what she used to cook on a regular. She's old now and getting forgetful but this is mainly due to my stepfather and never moved out the house 30 something sister being super picky. So after my brother and other sister and I left they would not eat what she cooked.

Now it's like some sugar addict has moved in. All they eat is junk food and order out from local places in their small town. It's sad. So, when I go home, I know there be shite all to eat in the fridge but theirs at least 20 bags of chips, cookies, candy and all sorts of crap in the cupboard now.

She never cooked very healthy, more like southern mama from the 70s and 80s but it was at least cooked meals. But they are eat now is plain garbage.

Every. Single. Time.

I visit my parents every Friday on my lunch break at work. First thing I do is check their fridge.

I’m feeding a family of four on middle-class income. Wife is a teacher. I look forward to something else other than a sandwich at lunch.

My parents fridge was just put on the curb and month ago.

It hadn't been the same since they passed away.

Make two meatloaves for meatloaf Monday. Eat leftovers for lunch?

I wouldn't look in my parents fridges for anything; too much of the wrong food influences combined with a lot of thriftiness don't make for good leftovers. My kids do scavenge the shite out of my fridge though.
