Saban obviously told him last night that LSU was a no-brainer.

Have we as LSU fans done a complete 180 on Saban? Coaches at LSU wins a National Title. Goes over to an arch rival, wins 6 National Titles and beats the crap out of LSU most seasons. Retires, becomes much more likable in my eyes, and steers the biggest available coaching name in all the business towards LSU? What a turnaround.

He is one of Kiffin’s mentors and wants him to have a great legacy. He knows what’s possible at LSU.

I think he’s always held LSU in high regard. Let’s not forget he tried to come back and Skip chose Les.

I always liked him, even at Bama. Didn't hold it against him at all he went to pros although it hurt like hell to see him do it. No different than a lawyer in New Orleans getting called up to Bennett Williams in DC and made a major partner.

I damn sure didn't get my panties in a wad as Warner and McKay did and call him little Nickie and Nictator. They allowed their hatred for him to cloud their judgment and were more petty for it.

I never disliked Saban. I disliked that he was in Tuscaloosa and not Baton Rouge.

I think it's just that Saban is no nonsense. Winning in CFB is about having resources. He probably told LK "are you an idiot? What is there to think about? Go to LSU."

Not I. I have always thought he was the GOAT, I just hated he was doing it at that other school.

It's like presidents. They're twice as popular immediately before they announce they are running and right after the next cat takes over.

I think Saban wants to live vicariously through Lane Kiffin.

Saban always viewed us as a threat due to the respect he had for the program.

He knows what it can be, regrets leaving, and wants to see Lane do what he never got to see through.

I hate Alabama, but will always respect Saban as a coach and leader.

Basically reiterated what he’s said for weeks: having to buy a new team through the portal every year isn’t sustainable and the fertile recruiting base for Louisiana/LSU is more conducive to long term/championship success.

Ah, well, it remains just as true. Thanks.
