Anybody got a good recommendation for a good electric scooter for a 7 year old that can/will grow with them?

Are you really sure you want to do that for a 7 year old? We had 4 kids at the junior high (12-14) get hit the first week of school, and all of the kids were found to be at fault.

My son's e-bike was bought when he was 12, and was about $350 (no name brand "atbest." He's got over 3k miles on it. I went hard that he wasn't allowed to wear more than one earbud anytime he was on it. The local city had to pass an ordinance that every e-anything being ridden had to stop at intersections, even if they had a green light/permission to walk (passed before those four kids got hit the first week.)

ETA: My son says a lot of younger kids use "Lectic" e-bikes and he says they don't go too fast.

Bruh, your kid can use his foot to scooter like we did as kids. He could probably use the exercise

There are different classes for e-vehicles which essentially tell you the max speed. Those little shits act like the junior high/high school parking lot is some sort of padded safe zone, darting out from behind cars, cutting across the parking lot, etc. I haven't seen one in a helmet yet.

The latest story my son brought back was someone in his grade, without stopping or looking, cut across 2 lanes of Northbound traffic (left to right), blindly turned left to go Southbound (right to left), and got nailed by a car going about 35. Somehow only ended up with bumps and bruises, but caused a few thousand in damage to the car.

I dont know, judging by how my son pays attention at age 7 and how many times hes accidentally hit the gas just riding along in mine, I would have to pass for a 7 year old.

Don’t do it. Kids don’t know how to ride them. Friends kid got hurt on one pretty bad. We also had a kid killed in our neighborhood when he darted in front of car.

This will only be ridden around our house in the neighborhood which has sidewalks throughout. What's the difference between an electric scooter and a bicycle when it comes to safety?

When the first electric Razor scooter came out in 2003, I was working in an ER in BR, and I said that we would see some kids come in with injuries on Christmas morning.

I remember receiving two that Christmas day with broken forearms.

Too many parents seem perfectly fine letting their kids ride on roads on electric bikes. They're essentially motorcycles. While they're not as fast as a real motorcycle they are fast enough for dumb kids to think they're fine riding them in the road.

They should ticket them and impound the bikes. Parents would learn then.

I’d say start ‘em off right, get ‘em a HD e-bike!

They've got freaking electric skateboards that are advertised to go up to 35, that's right, 35 mph. That's insane. I wouldn't let Tony Hawk ride one of those.

Those things are so gay, all the kids look so stupid riding them.

Gotrax is the most popular scooter around my neighborhood. All of the kids have them.

Get him, her some elbow pads and a helmet.

Don't listen to the haters. My parents kicked me out at 7:00AM with a BMX bike and said don't come home till you hear the dinner bell.

It's good for them to be outside breaking bones and learning shite.

Get the kid a bike, jeez I lived on mine as a kid and the only recharge it needed was a PB&J.
