Spinoff- Who does Fears remind you of?

His handle is very good and ability to use both hands to finish. Kyrie-ish.
He glides a little like Drexler. Not saying their games are similar but the effortless floating reminds me of Clyde

He reminds me of Jamal Murray. Obviously not nearly as good of a shooter as Murray but hopefully that improves. I need him and Queen to really develop some PNR chemistry cuz that’s going to be extremely important for high level half court offense for the future. Murray and Jokic spent years developing their chemistry and now it’s a well oiled machine

Tony Parker is a great comp. Not a great defender, quick as lightning, can finish in the lane, not an amazing outside shooter.

I don’t really know. Certainly a lot more comps to choose from for a 6-4 guard with great handles and smooth movements than a 6-10 center that can distribute and run a break.
Fears and Queen are what we all hoped would happen when we had the first and fourth pick in 2019.

I like Fears but hope he becomes a better facilitator as the PG.than he is right now.

I think that will come in time. He seems pretty confident that he can drive and score which is a good thing and he is really good at it, but I think he will eventually start playing within the system.

I think the Tony Parker comp is good, but I think Fears ceiling is higher than that. Everyone says Fears is a bad shooter, and he’s certainly not great right now, but he’s 19 years old and currently shooting 37% from 3 on over 3 attempts per game. With his work ethic I think his shot continues to grow and he becomes a pretty good shooter at some point. He’s also got 2 inches on Parker

I think he's more athletic than Parker as far as explosion. They are similar in ball handling but I feel Fears can explode to the rim better.

Tony Parker is in the HOF. Would be great if Fears progresses to that level

I had a John wall comp coming out but he is a little more curious with the ball vs the full throttle of Wall.

I think everything has sort of shifted with Queen's passing ability and playing through him a lot more.
Queen had 1 assist in his first 6 games.
He's averaged almost 5 a game in the last 12
I still think it's unacceptable for a guy like Fears to have 1 assist in a game, which he has done 6 times this year, but I think he'll find a grove at some point. I don't think he'll ever be a 8-10 assist guy, but he should be in the 5-6 range like you see from Jamal Murray playing with Jokic.

Getting more shooters on the court will also help fears to become more of a facilitator.
But I think it will come. His ability to get to the rim and finish is outstanding and will open up assist opportunities as he matures his game.

CP3. He has that quick burst, ability to hit floaters and mid range, plays confidently. Just like to see his assist numbers go to 7-8 a game

Higher ceiling than Hall of Fame Tony Parker?
TP is the winningest player of all-time with a minimum of 1000 games played.
List of point guards with a Finals MVP and 4 championships:
1. Magic Johnson
2. Tony Parker
The guy has an argument for being a top 15 PG of all time, especially if you consider accomplishments and not just stats.
You think he has a higher ceiling than that?

His largest 2 issues coming out of college was his 3pt shooting & his facilitating (or lack thereof).
nearly 1/4 the way through the season, he's actually done better than I thought he would from a scoring standpoint. the facilitating will come with time, but he truly might just be monta ellis and I think that's still okay.
You could still build around a 20/4/6 player when your other core piece is also a 20/10/5 big man

Young scoring guards typically do not come into the league and all of a sudden become a high level facilitator. While there are some exceptions, most guys generally learn over the course of their first couple of seasons. Fears will be no exception and is on track based on what we've seen.
While Fears isn't going to be a double digit floor general, he should be hover somewhere between 6-8 assists in his prime and hover somewhere between 6-7 during most years once he develops.
Fears will probably always be a guy who use his ability to score to set up his facilitating so his assists will fluctuate from year to year. That's not to say that he won't ever be able to develop into a floor general type but based on his style of play and his game, it's unlikely and that's fine for a modern point who will be paired up with a passing big for the majority of his career.
