You have to have a certain amount of chaos to succeed at LSU

It’s just how we roll. Eat grass. Rip your shirt off. Whatever. We tried the buttoned up approach and it failed miserably. Take us to the promised land and then burn the mother fricker down. Lane is definitely that guy.

Yeah I just want a character. Preferably a competent one but the button up approach sucks unless it’s Saban

BK sucked, but it wasnt because hes "buttoned up". I dont care how they act, I just want them to actually give an effort with coaching and recruiting. BK would have been good here if he actually cared and tried.

Saban was as zero personality as there was. He was fine. O had a fluke season, but otherwise flamed out. If you want to move to other sports, Jay Johnson isn't a "chaos" guy. It seems to work for him.

We are ourselves doesn't matter how weird - BK didn't fit

Good point about basketball. Our better coaches have tended to be kinda wild -- Daddy Dale (until he lost his edge), Brady (for a while), The General. McMahon is the most boring man alive.

Mulkey is also wild and extremely successful .

After years of Jones and Johnson, it was just nice to see someone that was passionate and stuck up for his guys on the floor.

I hate this narrative because it ignores his successful seasons prior to 2019.

He built that team over three seasons, not just an off-season

Chaos isn’t the tight word. I’d say crazy and I do think there is some crazy in sanan just a different kind of crazy

Y'all know how The U has had multiple documentaries? Would love to see one covering LSU from Saban through Coach O. I can guarantee we had better stories and better characters, not to mention beaucoup NFL players roll through that era.

Could really drive the point home of just how chaotic things are in the bayou.

I would say that Saban brought his own kind of chaos too in that he was a massive disrupter of the status quo and he reorganized everything according to his own vision and then exploded on the sidelines and let the press, admin, and boosters know who was in charge, and then he won. The greatest chaos of all.

Now this makes sense. A random chaotic kind of sense, but it fits.

It’s why Lane is the perfect coach. I wanted him last search too for the same reason. We like playing the villain and Lane loves to troll - match made in narcissistic heaven
