I know this is an older head site, and social media seen as trashy and trivial by the OT, but I found it very interesting how LSU Football has more followers on their official instagram account that Texas Account, UF account, and UGA account. Instagram follower count of college football team’s official profile/account shows how big each brand is.

LSU football has over 2x as many followers (1.3 million) than UF (560k), despite Florida having 5x as many people. I know FSU and UM exist, but still.

LSU ranks 3rd in the country at 1.3 million followers. Ohio State ranks 2nd at 1.4 million. Bama is 1st at 1.5 million. Every other college football team is below LSU in this aspect including UGA and UT.

Lane has to know how much bigger the brand is at LSU than UF or Ole Miss. Brand means everything in any business or sport

LSU is the only school in state. Half of Florida's population isn't even from Florida, and they have several other schools to choose from. Texas is full of mexicans.

Do not underestimate the importance of a digital footprint.

Probably 1% of Louisiana's population moves to Houston yearly.

That's actually really impressive. I love that LSU has so many fans.

You forget how many people move to Florida to retire that didn't grow up there.

Florida and Georgia have significantly more people move to those states than Louisiana does.

I live in FL and there aren’t that many Gator fans around me. Even the ones that went to UF are pretty passive. They jump on it during the season but they don’t live Gator football.

I think the average UF fan as is very blue collar, sidewalk fan.

The school itself has gotten harder to get into and is attracting a more academic, national student body. They aren’t raised Gator fans either.

Well it sure means a lot to Lane because he's constantly seeking online validation and attention... it makes perfect sense why he wants to go to LSU.

LSU has lots of fans in other states , over here in East Louisiana (Mobile), by the team plates on cars it's 1/3 LSU, 1/3 Bama, and 1/3 Auburn.

A lot of this also has to do with 2019. Remember those hype videos? Our social media game was on point early on

Around me the gator fans are the upper middle class to wealthy folks while fsu are more your everyday folks. Miami fans either are from broward or Dade, went to UM itself or ghetto as hell

You do know Florida and Texas have many different schools right? UF, FSU, Miami, USF, UCF, FAU, FIU etc .. very, very easy.

Only game in town. All the other states mentioned are split amongst multiple schools.

the P5 school to 4*/5* high school recruit ratio in FL is the same as it is in LA. no way one school gets a majority of them. especially with Georgia and tOSU coming in and taking a few.
