Best bourbon I've ever had was Old Fitz 17 if you can get your hands on it.

I've tried all the Pappy's and like the Old Fitz much better.

Double Eagle Rare or some George Stagg. There are hundreds of great bourbons out there but good luck actually finding them.

You have to give your budget to determine this.

Will it be enjoyed straight, or mixed? If mixed, I’d suggest a high rye 100 proof bourbon, say Old Forrester 100 Proof. If straight, or neat, I like Eagle Rare…

This, or the white or red label if you can find it.

One of the EH Taylors makes a great gift. Somewhat findable, good whiskey and the tube makes for a great presentation.

Stuff that you can find on the shelf, I would probably get a Bardstown Collaborative Series. Chateau La Laubade, Silver Oak, Founder's, Amrut.

If you're going secondary, then Stagg Jr, Wellers 12, Blanton's straight from the barrel, Midnight winters dram, etc.

Totally depends on your budget. If you are willing to spend $800-$1k try to find a bottle of Pappy's. It's not the best tasting things out there, but it's legitimately special.

If he's not a bourbon snob, Jack Daniel's Sinatra is a nice presentation and smooth drinker for under $200.

Stagg Jr like someone else said is also a good choice, but man it's hard to drink, lol.

Eagle Rare 12 doesn't look like much but is probably the best liquid thing I've ever tasted.

Where are you, and all the others posting similar suggestions, finding all these bottles? I never ever see any Eagle Rare, EH Taylor, JD Sinatra, Stagg, Blanton's, etc. Located on the northshore.

I'm in Indiana and in the same situation. I've bought them on the secondary market.

Also, as a little bit of a different idea: there are some really good aged Caribbean rums that are an interesting alternative. Appleton 21 is an example.

Great question. If I were a millionaire and buying for a bourbon drinker, anything I can get my hands on. Good luck!
