Have a 17' Hanko that Id like to add flooring too. I know about EVA Foam, but have any of you added anything else? Ive seen the Safe Floor advertisements but haven't really met anyone with it.
What else am I possibly missing? Give me full opinions, what you like, dont like who you uses, would you pay it again etc?
Thanks In advance!

My brother had safe floor in his bayboat it’s similar to playground granules. Good on the feet but rough on the knees though way more durable than the foam products.

Don't rule out aluminum composite panels. You can cut them with a skill saw, make vertical bends by leaving one aluminum sheet intact, and they hold weight well. You'd have to top it with something for slippery conditions. It's the stuff some dog boxes are made of.
I once had an a 16 ft lowe semi v and put aluminum composite panels in it and topped with a cheap truck bed liner-type mat and it worked great. The guy who bought that boat said the paneling is still in good shape and that was 14+ years ago, though he did eventually have to replace the rubber mat.
Eta: nevermind, I'm in home building mode and saw flooring and thought about substrate instead of finished surface. Dumbass award goes to me.

Safe Floor is pretty much permanent so you better love it cause it’s going to be near impossible to take off.
I have installed Hydro turf in two boat and it’s been solid. Make sure you buy good flooring and prep well. Son bought Amazon cheap crap and it’s lacking in u/v inhibitors.
Keep you material and boat out of the sun, heat will make it expand. I used the peel and stick but would also add 3m spray 90 on next floor.

Safe floor seems like the perfect material for flooring on metal boat

Is SeaDek not the go to anymore? Beat out HydroTurf.

I've been going back and forth on way to do on mine for the last year or two.
The EVA foam is great on feet and dog paws, etc. But will not last forever.
The spray in or rubberized roll on is what I'm leaning towards.
Bed liner is rough as hell on skin and paws, and hot. Wouldn't advise.

I have seadek on my offshore boat and I like it a lot. I would go for the HD version is isn’t as porous but even the porous stuff cleans up to looking brand new with just a little bleach in the soap mix. I didn’t think I would like seadek as much as I do. Kneeling to get stuff out of floor lockers or fish box is nice. It can be replaced if it gets too torn up after a bunch of years. I’m on year 5 and expect I’ll probably go to at least 10 years before I might replace due to tears or fading.
I have textured durabak on deck of my fiberglass bay boat. Really easy to clean but it does chip and flake and isn’t bullet proof. Easy to touch up with more coats if needed. Just like paint. To me it’s essentially rhino lining.
I’m not a fan of safefloor looks. But to each his own. I’d rather a seadek type product if you want a soft surface.

I have safe floor. I like it a lot for my needs.
PROS: last forever. Traction is great if your slinging a bunch of slimy trout in, etc. It makes everything quieter on the boat. Nice feel on the bare feet. And my favorite attribute is it makes cleaning the inside of your boat optional for the most part.
CONS: like one guy said it isn’t the nicest feeling on your knees. I don’t spend much time on my knees in a boat though so that affects me less than 1% of the time.

How does the Safe Floor hold up compared to the SeaDek?
It is hard to tell from pictures but is it like a rough grit?

Think running track, pretty coarse granules over epoxy.
Not permanent but mostly permanent

I think I would prefer the SeaDek, I am waiting until my paint job starts looking rough then going to install in my marsh boat.

Safe Floor will outlast sea dek. I don’t think that’s a controversial position. If you’re in Mandeville you can go to Marsh and Bayou store and they have some cutouts of the material so you can put your hands on the stuff. Or come walk around on my boat.

No complaints about the hydroturf I installed in my G3. Scrubs clean with a push broom water/dawn and is soft and cool to the touch.
I don’t saltwater fish a ton, not sure if that interferes with its durability.

SeaDek on my skiff. Barefoot all day, on my knees most of the time with my gk's. It's like flip-flops.
I picked off-white color, it cleans up with minimal effort but you will brush it to keep it pristine. It's comfortable for everyone.
Been on the boat for a couple years. I have a cover for the boat SeaDek looks new.
