Has the DOT "Don't be a hood rat in the air" advertisement been discussed?

He's not wrong. This should be played in airport waiting areas.

One of the big things I miss about living in Dallas is flying JSX.

Nothing annoys me more than to see people fly basically in pajamas. I am not saying that you have to dress to impress ,but is a nice shirt, slacks or jeans, and good pair shoes too much? Office casual at a minimum. Some of these people who fly are straight up slobs.

I comply with your code but also think our theatre of shoes and belts coming off tends to invite people to go elastic and slip on

Add on a variety of airline policies encouraging people to try to carry on their entire life

We’ve made it a rather undignified experience

I always enjoy sitting next to the hirsute bubba in a wife-beater, jorts and crocs as he spills over into my space....

I always said I could fly on a plane full of the swedish bikini team and get stuck between the 2 unshaven sheep-herders.

And I chuckle at the ladies that look like they headed to the club in heels, and semi-revealing clothes....

At least the cabin isn't filled with smoke anymore...

Agreed. This works to your benefit if you have travel issues...canceled flight, lost luggage, etc. You are going to get an entirely different customer service experience in a collared shirt and slacks than you will if dressed like a bum.

I read in some old professional development book years ago that what you wear also has a subconscious effect on your own behavior. You are more polite and professional in a coat and tie than in a pair of shorts. Can't prove that to be true, but it isn't difficult for me to believe that.

Shorts are perfectly acceptable for airline flights.
