12lb roast $889 shipped overnight ($210 off). Yea I know its still pricy but its a good price on what it is if anyone was ever looking. You can cut it up and refreeze portions. With it being so rich you only eat a little bit at a time so you can get a good amount of meals out of it. Slice it up into 24 8oz portions and its $37.05ea.

I am completely at peace knowing that I will never eat wagyu in my lifetime. I could afford it, but there’s just so many better things I could buy with my money. USDA Prime beef is plenty good enough for me.

I am in the same boat. I want to try it once, but I'm good with prime. Hell, I found two great-looking angus strips tonight for $14.99/lb.

Have had it a few times, not on my dime, and agree that you will be disappointed by all the hype surrounding wagyu.

It is really good but not worth 5-10x the price of a prime or choice steak.

So I was at a sushi place a couple years ago and they had a limited menu , it was really an Izakaya. But they had an A5 roll the chef recommended and not knowing what A5 was I ordered it and it was good.

I seem to be in the minority in that I do not care for Waygu or Waygu style beef.

I'm with you. Maybe we are wrong, but it just looks like mostly fat and rendered tallow when cooked. I'm sure it's tender, hell, it has to be, it's 75%+ fat.

Had it for my birthday a couple of years back. Ordered a 4oz portion just so I could experience it. Here’s my take

It is incredibly delicious and unique. The fatty meat literally melts the moment it hits the heat of your mouth, and your entire palate is covered in it. It just sticks to your palate from its natural oiliness.

That’s also the bad side of it. It is so fatty that it is incredibly rich. After about 3 bites I could not eat anymore. It was too much for me. I felt as I do after a few sips of a milkshake: glad I got that taste but I’m mentally full and culinarily exhausted.

IF I were to ever order it again, it would only be as an appetizer to share with others. 1-2 bites are glorious, but it’s not something I can eat for sustenance. I need a rest after more than that

Exactly, and that is what it tastes like to me. I don't like the flavor, or the mouthfeel, it's like eating a piece of fat. I think it looks cool when it's raw though.

I have in the past and I'm not opposed to more in the future. The one I got was fat like the Costco one A5 BMS 12. I think a lower BMS would be better over all since it would have a little more meat to it but I still enjoyed the one I got. I trimmed off some of the fat and made some tallow to cook with as well. Its not for everyone but I wanted to share since the price is pretty good for what you are getting.

I hate it done the traditional way on the hot rock/tableside grill, but it’s awesome raw as nigiri.

The difference between prime and A5 is drastic.
