How are you guys doing? Was very slow (for me) in Mizzou and Illinois the first two weeks in November.

I got lucky and tagged out early November in KS. Glad I did before the warmer weather came in and stayed. Going to Iowa after Christmas for late muzz. Pretty pumped about it.

I shot a doe with my bow. Shot a decent buck opening morning of rifle. Saw a ton of deer.

We saw lots of deer first week of Nov in northern MO. Lots of small bucks running/chasing.

I killed a nice, mature, huge bodied 8, and my buddies loaded up on does.

We only saw 3 true shooters among the 4 of us in 10 days though.

How many points did it take to draw Iowa muzzy?

My buddy is in MO and they had went
0-7 said they were hunting in short sleeves.
I’m in Montana I killed a 4x4 Muley and my son killed a 4x4 muley. We have not laid eyes on an elk. No snow and hot

I started Kansas on the 30th and rattled up 8 bucks in the first three days. Had a 130” @ 60 yards. Hit a limb and missed a 150”+. Slowed down once it got hot. Killed a 150” in the heat. Great hunt, but heat slowed movement.

Hunted central Kansas from Nov 8th-14th. Good bit of buck movement and chasing. Had them pinned on a funnel between standing milo and silage/soybean. Both sets of crop cut while I was there but they continued to use the same strip of trees to cruise. Shot a good buck on the morning of the 14th. Had opportunities on other bucks but didn’t work out. Good trip.

Shot a doe today in MO. She was easily well over 150 lbs.

Seen some really nice bucks up here. Passed on one this morning and had a giant six that has been a regular these past few days. He will be a stud next year. On Tuesday I saw one that was well over 150” on my way back to the house.

It has been slow these past few days. The wind has made some of my days up here a bust. I’m going to sit out tomorrow because it is supposed to rain its arse off. Saturday I’ll hunt all day and then leave on Sunday. But other than that it is so nice being up here. Can’t be beat

ILLINOIS
Last week was rough. 13 hunters with only one kill. One other guy missed and we had a couple of guys pass on marginal deer.

This week was much better. Bucks are off their initial lockdown and seem to be in the seeking phase again. Three deer killed this week, the largest 171”.

Still seeing some bucks locked down but not nearly as many as last week.

I’m bow hunting central Missouri public land.
11/19 passed on a young 7pt…I’m regretting now.

11/20 didn’t see anything, a few turkeys.

11/21 one doe this morning all the way across a crp field. I did see a massive 8 chasing on the drive to the CA.

One more day of hunting and the the drive back on Sunday.

Spunky,
Are you hunting with an outfitter? I have done the IL and OK outfitter deal, and I just hit both on a bad week I guess. I have thought about doing a KY velvet hunt or a KS early muzzleloader hunt to try to up the odds. Do you have any good names up there you recommend. Thanks

Ross Trophy Outfitters in Kansas is a great outfit. I’ve elk hunted with Perry, but not deer.

Only got a doe. A BIG doe at that. Beyond grateful I can come up here and do this stuff.

Saw some really nice bucks up here. Great experience all together.

Now time to hunt LA

Here in the metropolis of Williamsburg, MO, I have taken 3 does with bow but been out of town most of rifle. Hunted opening day and say only squirrels.

Let a friend hunt our place while I was gone and he took a 7 point and a big doe, that turned out to be a button buck, on consecutive mornings. Sucker took them from my stand.

My son-in-law and daughter are hunting the next couple of days so maybe I will have an update. I get back home late tomorrow evening and plan to hunt all this coming week.

I lease land in KS, havent found an outfitter that's be willing to let me hunt as long as I want without a crazy fee attached to it. Rightfully so, its a business and they're in it to make money. Im lucky enough to be able to hunt majority of November so leasing has been my best option.

My network of DIY public and private land Midwest hunters did better this year than the guided hunters I’ve heard about. Maybe that’s due to outfitter buck size restrictions? If you’ve got some hunt in you, DIY is very doable.
