I've still yet to see anyone show legit reasons why Dillingham should be considered.

The only reasons I've seen for why this guy would be a homerun hire are:
"Hester likes him"
"I'd run through a wall for this guy"
"He took Texas to OT"
Is this it? Really? This is what we're going to hang our hat on for this guy? Please, anyone, give me actual reasons and data for why this guy would be a good hire.

Give your top 5 candidates and list why they should be considered.

He took over a program coming off a 3-9 season where nearly everyone hit the portal. In year 2, he made the playoffs. This year, they have a legit shot to finish 9-3, despite the fact that their star QB has been injured for basically the entire season. He’s clearly a good coach.

Look up his record with QBs, his background as a ln OC, and his ability to overachieve. Also not bad at raising funds for the program. His work with Bo Nix alone should be enough to land him anywhere. Who the frick else do you realistically think LSU would pull that’s better besides Lane? I can knock each one of your realistic candidates back down to reality.

Turned a shite show in AZ around and made the playoff. Develops Qb’s is young and hungry.
I was brief because you don’t appear to have much of an attention span

There’s not a legitimate reason. It’s an emotional thought process because he is a fiery personality. The reality is his team is not that good. Had a good team last year, that was heavily reliant on specific players, but the offensive stats were still very concerning in key areas. Extremely penalized. They claim he’s a great recruiter but there is no proof.

Jimmy i’m sorry you don’t have this guy as a client but his resume is outstanding and he’s not an awkward nerd like Drink is.

He had an objectively successful track record as an OC in his previous stints as well. No one is saying he’s the only good candidate but he is one of them. He also only makes 7 million a year currently which makes pulling him away more realistic than other options.

Hes an up and coming fiery Coach with a helluva work ethic and very driven Offensive minded Coach.
Don't be naive and think there is zero reason to hire him.

Bro, did you read the reasons posted for you before looking like a dummy?

Why don’t you go research him and form your own opinion instead of coming to a message board.

His offense is objectively bad this season.
Don’t blame injuries - Kiffin had his starting qb go down and still has a top offense with a d2 transfer who looks incredible.
Our offense is currently comparable to Arizona state.

Don’t forget that good interview clip

Melting over anyone is kind of premature until proven otherwise. This is just like politics. You don’t know what the “president elect” will do until 4 years is up. Old/young/weird/seasoned/power level- it’s all a crap shoot.

This is his history as an OC or HC:
2018 - Memphis - 8-6 - 8th ranked offense (Norvell was play caller)
2019 - Auburn - 9-4 - 36th ranked offense (Malzahn was play caller)
2020 - Florida State - 3-6 - 93rd ranked offense
2021 - Florida State - 5-7 - 57th ranked offense
2022 - Oregon - 10-3 - 12th ranked offense
2023 - Arizona State - 3-9 - 124th ranked offense
2024 - Arizona State - 11-3 - 25th ranked offense
2025 - Arizona State - 7-3 - 85th ranked offense
High highs, low lows. LSU fans are NOT going to be satisfied with results like this.
I think LSU should hire a guy who consistently fields a top offense, even through roster turnover. Multiple available guys fit that bill:
year - school - offense ranking
Lane Kiffin:
2017 - FAU - 7th
2018 - FAU - 49th
2019 - FAU - 12th
2020 - Ole Miss - 14th
2021 - Ole Miss - 29th
2022 - Ole Miss - 35th
2023 - Ole Miss - 28th
2024 - Ole Miss - 10th
2025 - Ole Miss - 14th
Eric Morris:
2023 - N Texas - 19th
2024 - N Texas - 20th
2025 - N Texas - 1st
Mike Shanahan:
2022 - JMU - 21st
2023 - JMU - 16th
2024 - Indiana - 2nd
2025 - Indiana - 2nd
2018 - Memphis - 8-6 - 8th ranked offense (Norvell was play caller)

2024 - Arizona State - 11-3 - 25th ranked offense

He did not call plays in 4/5 years as an OC. Very important to recognize
Posted on 11/20/25 at 7:36 am to jlandry103
I’d take him. Idk about $10M a year tho.
Posted on 11/20/25 at 7:38 am to MilkJug
I do find him being the new flavor on this board to be a little odd.
