Best sauce yet.

Chat GPT:

quote:

Here’s my honest, big-picture read based on everything that’s come out over the last several days — and the way Lane Kiffin historically operates.

My prediction: LSU
I think Lane Kiffin ultimately chooses LSU — and here’s why.

1. LSU is the job that checks all of Kiffin’s boxes

Lane Kiffin cares about three major things when choosing a job:

(1) A recruiting base he doesn’t have to fight for

LSU has the single easiest recruiting job in America:
• One-school state
• Pipeline in New Orleans
• NFL-level athletes naturally “fall” to LSU
• You can win a national title with only 3–4 out-of-state recruits

Florida is a tougher, more divided recruiting territory. Ole Miss is even harder — they overachieve relative to resources.

(2) A program that can win a national title quickly

LSU has won three national championships under three different coaches since 2003. In terms of “plug-and-play championship potential,” LSU is second only to Georgia and Alabama.

Florida could get back there, but LSU is already built.

(3) A place where Lane can be “Lane”

LSU embraces big personalities:
• Saban
• Les Miles
• Coach O
• Brian Kelly

LSU loves a coach with swagger who wins. Kiffin could lean into his persona here more than at Florida, and certainly more than at Ole Miss.

2. LSU will outspend everyone

Multiple reliable insiders are already suggesting LSU will offer:
• Top-5 salary nationally
• Massive NIL investment
• Control of staff hires

Florida can pay well, but they’re a little more dysfunctional administratively. Ole Miss can’t match either LSU or Florida on long-term NIL.

LSU boosters smell blood. They’re swinging hard.

3. Florida is tempting — but messy

Florida has:
• A divided booster base
• A political AD situation
• A tough recruiting environment
• A culture that tends to eat coaches alive (see: Mullen, Napier)

Their expectations are sky-high and their patience is paper-thin. Kiffin would win there — but the leash is shorter.

4. Ole Miss can’t win this war

Ole Miss is beloved by Kiffin, no doubt.

But they can’t offer him:
• The easiest recruiting job in the country
• Unlimited NIL
• Championship resources
• A perennial Top-10 roster

If he stays at Ole Miss, it’s a heart decision — not a career decision. But Kiffin has never been sentimental when opportunity knocks.

5. Lane’s history says he moves when the ceiling is hit

Lane Kiffin:
• USC
• Alabama OC
• FAU
• Ole Miss

He moves when he feels he’s maxed out what a program can be.

Ole Miss is near its ceiling. A 12-team playoff helps, but it still can’t consistently match LSU talent.

And Kiffin 100% knows this.

So my final call: LSU

Big brand. Big money. Easy recruiting. Realistic national titles. Cultural fit.

Lane Kiffin wants a place where he can:
• Recruit elite talent without fighting giants
• Call his offense with NFL-caliber players
• Have a legitimate chance to dethrone Alabama and Georgia
• Be the main character every Saturday

LSU is the only job offering all of that at once.

FWIW, I've been asking chatgpt about the coaching search from various angles & it always has Kiffin as the choice.

Was Saban a big personality? He hated that aspect of coaching and considered it a chore. He seemed more mellow about it later on but at LSU he was not media friendly or even particularly fan friendly.

Ask ChatGPT when he will decide

quote:

Most likely decision window: Sunday–Tuesday after the Egg Bowl (Nov 30 – Dec 2) Why?

1. Coaches almost never announce before a rivalry game It kills locker-room morale and sends the wrong message.

2. The transfer portal opens December 2 Schools want a coach in place before or on that day so:
• Current players don’t flee
• Recruits aren’t blindsided
• Incoming transfers know who they’re committing to

3. Ole Miss reportedly wants clarity after the Egg Bowl Multiple outlets have said Ole Miss expects an answer quickly after Nov 30.

4. LSU and Florida don’t want to be the last seat at the table They don’t want to get leapfrogged if Kiffin says “no,” so they’ll want him to decide fast. ?

Prediction: He announces Sunday evening or Monday morning (Dec 1–2) Historically, this is when big SEC hires drop:
• Brian Kelly ? announced Monday night
• Jimbo Fisher ? announced Sunday afternoon
• Dan Mullen ? announced Sunday/Monday
• Lane Kiffin to Ole Miss (2019) ? announced Sunday

Sunday evening after the Egg Bowl is the sweet spot — gives him:
• A full day after the game
• Enough time for agents to finalize numbers
• The ability to walk into his new school on Monday/Tuesday as the portal window opens ?

How “late” could it go?

Latest realistic window: Wednesday, Dec 3–4 Beyond that, the portal chaos would make a delayed decision very damaging.

Earliest possible unlikely-but-not-impossible window: Saturday night after the Egg Bowl Only if everything is already signed in the background and he’s trying to get ahead of leaks. ?

Gut feel on exact timing Monday, December 1, around midday. That’s the classic Jimmy Sexton (his agent) press-cycle window.
