Think about how short sighted the search was for Miles...

He had moderate success at best when he was hired from OSU.

There were so so many coaches who would have been an upgrade, but they went Miles. Kinda crazy.

Miles was rushed because Saban fricked us at the 11th hour. Still worked out pretty well.

Saban screwed us by leaving on Christmas Day.

Skip thought petrino was a slimeball prick-correct.

Jack Del Rio got scared we ended up with miles.

Could have had Spurrier but Nick took too long to make a decision.

Come on. He won a NC and got us to another. Most teams would consider that a great hire.

Del Rio was the pick.

But Skip wouldn’t wait two days for the NFL season to end to sign him. So he got Miles.

They went with someone who's been the most successful football coach LSU has ever had. Go figure.

Nope he had already signed with SC.

Steve Spurrier agreed to coach South Carolina in November 2004, replacing Lou Holtz and officially taking the helm as the head football coach. The hiring was announced after Holtz's retirement, with Spurrier's contract including a guaranteed annual compensation of $1.25 million.

Sucked.

Everyone loves leach for good reason but doesn’t it say a little something that he NEVER got the big job?

Rich Rod at WVU

Would have been a great hire but he was coming off a year where they were kind of a big flop. Started top 10 and ended up unranked

Mikes was a great coach but he never evolved.

The rumor was Petrino didn't know Skip was Jewish and made an off color joke, and then became persona non grata in the search thereafter

Del rio got scared and left skip sitting on the tarmac while he sat in a suv and left without talking to him.

Understandably Skip got ticked

Miles had the same issues wasting the 2006 team that he had later.

2006 is the best all around team of the Miles era in terms of talent.

He was always too conservative. It was just his mindset.

Miles also embraced the goofball persona way too much. He was actually pretty intense those first 2-3 years (ask Tracy Wolfson.)
