Jackson MS parking scam

Went to visit family in the hospital there in early October. Went downtown to eat at the Iron Horse Grille (great meal btw). Wasn’t wild about parking in the street and found a fenced parking area across from Union Station a block or so away. Had a sign with a WR code to scan and pay and input tag number when I did. $3.80 with card fee if memory serves. Paid it with CC. This month get a letter in the mail and another a week later from a Vanguard Parking Systems of Hollywood FL with an invoice for $90 or so. They’re saying we didn’t pay and will not accept bank statement as proof of payment. Wife tried to dispute it with their online and phone system. No luck so far. Anyone familiar with this and how to combat it? Cheaper to pay the $90 than to take off work, hire an atty etc etc etc but I suppose that’s what they count on.
Any suggestions besides avoid Jackson MS?

You're gonna have to bang someone's wife to get even.

Vanguard is a private company, and this is a private debt. Throw the ticket in the garbage.
FYI: They're going to blow you up with mail threatening to send you to collections, throw those in the garbage too.

Keep your wife from checking the mail. Women tend to get nervous about dumb shite like this and pay it.

pretty convenient to reject any proof that you made payment
All of these "pay on time or the private contractor makes a ton of money" government programs are scams. Shreveport's traffic cameras are one of the biggest.

Dont pay it unless they can show reason for the exorbitant parking fee. No way anybody going to strong arm me via mail.

The late fees are extortionary.
The private contractors are almost always out of state - so people can't go by the office and tell them to go F themselves. Shreveport.'s traffic cam contractor is in Tenn, and they used to send letters with a Tenn. return address with the address lead reading "Shreveport Police Department - Traffic Enforcement Division."
I wrote the Tenn Attorney General and said "how does Shreveport have a police department division in Tenn.? They never responded but now the payment letters do NOT identify the company as a "division" of SPD.
I wanted to sue the shite out of the City because the admin hearing officers for cam tickets were City court prosecutors - a huge conflict. But, if you showed up with a lawyer, they would quietly come over and dismiss your client's ticket.
The CIty used prosecutors, even though a clear conflict of interest and unethical under the Code of Ethics for lawyers, because they don't want to spend a penny on cam tickets. They simply want to collect their cut.

Happened to me in New Orleans. Premium parking lot on N. Peters and Bienville sent a bill for $135.
They also said they would not accept the CC statement. When I told them they could go frick themselves, they said they would boot my truck if it was ever in one of their parking lots again.
When I asked how they would know it's my truck, they of course said license plate is on file. When I told her that I had traded the truck in, and that the license plates were in my garage, I politely told her to GFYS again.
Never heard from them again!

Are you serious? Just don’t pay it. It’s not a moving violation or anything. It’s a fake parking ticket.

When I was 22 I worked in the CBD at a restaurant and had to stay late, until 430 pm instead of 330, because some shite head hipster girl I worked with was hungover. So I had to close the store even though I opened at 6 am ( im still mad 20 years later).
I walked the three blocks to my shitty car and the dude had just put a boot on it and it cost me like $130 to get off. It really fricked me up because I was making like 9 dollars an hour and has like 50 extra dollars every week after bills.

Same here. Had some good meals and great times at Iron Horse...albeit 30-35 years ago. Glad it's still going strong.

Dude don’t listen to the idiots in this thread. You need an attorney asap otherwise this debt will balloon and destroy your credit, they’ll be able to garnish wages, and possibly even put a lien on your house. And you don’t want to end up in jail on a bench warrant. You need a good lawyer.

I’ve had a couple nasty fires in the iron horse.
