Integrity in journalism is dead. The profession has become a joke.

This. Similar happened when Willie Fritz got linked to GA Tech days before Cotton Bowl. Withdrew from consideration.

Lawd, who knows. I can see a scenario where an agent verbally committed to an interview without talking to the coach for deniability, but then the coach backed out for whatever reason.

--or--

Some kind of 4D SEC Game of Thrones shite playing out.

It got reported and everybody hit reverse. Tulane is in the 12th spot of playoffs. It was supposed to be quite.

I have no source. I bet if there was a meeting scheduled. A booster that did not want Sumrall leaked it to stop it.

I thought the story was he was going to accept but wanted to wait for an announcement so he could coach in the Cotton Bowl less than a week later. Tech said no so he said “well I’m not coming then”

That's about what I heard from people in the know. Was going to take it but wanted it kept quiet to focus on Cotton Bowl (our biggest game ever). Disenchanted Tech booster leaked it and he noped out.

UF could have leaked it to put pressure on Kiffin?

This guy from UF basically said it when it was announced that Sumrall and staff weren't interested in Florida.

Maybe they were trying to force a move on Lane?
