What is the best age window to hire a coach?

What does the evidence support? Looking at the GOAT, Nick Saban, his best years were from 2008-2020, which were age 57-69yrs old.
Kinda thought BK was in that window and perhaps his best work was going to happen at LSU. Turns out he was burned out already and unwilling to grind.
Is this the best window or is it younger? Probably not older.
With changes in TP and NIL, it’s probably profoundly younger.

Nobody knows. Probably greatly varies by coach.

IMO, in order to hire a coach, you should be at least 18y/o.

Kiffin age is perfect, still a lot left in tank and probably had a few jobs already and learned from mistakes

We hired Saban and Miles right around the age of 50. I think anywhere between 45-55 is a good age. Makes sure they've had enough experience to know how to lead, but also gives them enough time to stay around for a while.
With that being said, I'd still like the 35 year old Dillingham. Not often that a 35 year old has the amount of coaching experience that he does.

Any coach that you can safely say will be coaching for 10 more years. Y

A good coach - 50-55. Too old to make another move if he's winning big. BK was too old by 5 or 6 years.
Up and comer 38-48. Will still have time to build a big resume. If he wins big,
not too many jobs that would be bigger than LSU to jump to. Could be a 15 to 20 year hire.

I want a window of an age to be in warranty.

Not sure - I can tell you when NOT to hire one
When hes 75 and too busy with his 24 year old trophy

This is impossible to gauge. Most coaches have to earn their way up before getting a job at a powerhouse school. Had Saban gotten the LSU or Bama job in his 30's I would think he would have been even more successful than what he ended up.

I’d argue his best years started at LSU. His first championship and became a heavy hitter. The Miami experiment puts a stain on the surface but he would have kept rolling had he stayed at LSU.

Assuming it’s a 10 year contract, it needs to be 35 or younger. The cognitive decline by age 40 is remarkable.

Would prefer someone 40 and a man.

An 18-26 year old should be able to close the deal
