Every day we get further away from Brian Kelly it's clearer he was a terrible fit for LSU

I'll admit I had high hopes but it was a terrible marriage.

A coach that doesn’t show up for work all week is a bad fit for any school on the planet, not just LSU.

Surely if Ed Orgeron could piece together a National Championship, then so could Brian Kelly.
Says more about him as a coach

100 Mil at the tail end of his career there’s no motivation to do anything after that but play golf

I think LSU was the first time he got fired from a job. He previously kept leaving other schools on his own accord. Hopefully he’s been humbled from the experience and he realizes he’s not as good a coach as he thinks. I hate that he will make so much money off LSU from doing a terrible job but I guess that is why we have a new AD now.

Woodward got a little too involved but he was really 3 or 4 decisions away from having a very successful tenure. He wasn't that far off. His ego definitely played a part.

He wasn't gonna fit anywhere.
He was checked out and was simply collecting a check as the game passed him by.

A little pain today is worth the nightmare continuing. So relieved he's gone pecan.

i didn't dislike him like a lot of people say, but i think he'll be very quickly forgotten. I thought it was an unlikely hire but i was not disappointed at the time.

Fit matters less than effort.
He didnt give the effort.

He's just a bad coach in general

He was not a bad fit. From what I can see he was just not committed. I still cannot fathom how he could come into this shite show and win the SEC West and beat bama his first year and then just pull an Orgeron and disengage. The guy won everywhere he coached and was always a rebuild where he was hired and always brought them to championship level. You can't do that at 3 schools in a row and suck or not know what you are doing or not be committed. Orgeron did the same thing after 2019. Good fit or bad fit if you aren't committed it will show.

My guess is that will be what LSU goes after Kelly for?
Not performing his job duties which includes interacting with staff and players, that's a pretty big red flag if he wasn't all in for that kind of salary

His work ethic or lack thereof, indicates he's a terrible fit anywhere on the college/pro scene.

I don't even think it was that. I think it was more of a lack of forward thinking.
LSU was a .500 team with a depleted roster when he took the job. He salvaged a top 10 signing class and pieced the roster together the best he could through the transfer portal. The result was LSU winning the SEC West.
For much of 2022 it was the defense that carried the water for LSU. But some cracks started to appear late that he didn't address. The following year he did not go hard in the portal because he wanted to build more in the "traditional" manner...even though it was clear the game was changing. The result was a dropoff by the defense FAR greater than anyone could have expected because BK didn't adequately fill the holes.
To his credit, he changed DCs. But he still lacked the forward thinking that (a) HS recruiting isn't as important as it used to be and (2) "relationships" don't matter as much as money. That's why he chose a QB coach (Sloan) over his OC. The next season the offense was decent. But a deeper dive should have revealed some VERY big concerns that needed to be addressed. Instead of addressing them, he put all of his eggs in the Underwood basket. It was only after he saw that money matters did he change course and hit the portal hard. However, he wasn't forward thinking enough to realized that even with the influx of players, he still had a bad OC and offensive staff.
The secret to Saban's success is that he was NEVER satisfied or content. He was always concerned about how other programs might be better than his in the future, so he was proactive in addressing those issues. Even if it meant changing what was working with great success now. Alabama won back to back championships with one style of play. It would have been reasonable to continue that same successful approach. However, Saban saw the game was changing in 2013 and he quickly evolved to change with it.
