OM giving him until the 28th to make a decision seems crazy, right?

If you're going to create a deadline, shouldn't it be this Friday? Presumably they will start full-on prepping for MSU this weekend and, if Lane still hasn't decided, they're allowing this whole circus to follow them throughout rivalry week. Seems like you'd want a decision one way or another before you started on your game planning so you'd at least know who the coach is going to be.

I really want to know what their solution is if he says he’s leaving after the playoffs.

It would not surprise me after the very public flaunting of sending your family to scout out rival schools, that OM doesn't up the date to this weekend. He didn't keep all of this behind closed doors, he put it out for everyone to see.

There has to be some serious disruption occurring in the OM locker room.

If a star player took a trip during a bye week to tour Bama, how do you think that would work out?

Lane has had his offers presented by all parties. He is making OM look like chumps.

OM should tell him make a decision and let's get on with it.

Ole Mrs giving him any type of deadline when he’s playoff bound is stupid.
They should be rubbing his feet and fanning him with palm leaves.

They dumb

It takes 2 to tango. Lane’s not the only crazy one in this relationship.

What if ole miss already knows he isnt leaving?
What if ole miss and lane are intentionally dragging this out?
What if they know the longer they drag fla and lsu along for the ride the worse shape they are in for a coach, recruiting, the portal?

Surely not though. Lane isnt the type of person to do something like that

Nope. You have to have some pride. I admire Ole Miss for this position. You can't let LK publicly treat you like shite with no response. They have limited options, I think they selected the right one for their university and their football program. They don't want to wait until December or January to get an answer with this coaching carousel.

Wouldn't they not give him an ultimatum? Wouldn't they just let him string LSU and UF along for as long as possible?

He’ll have to do a lot for good will after yesterday’s antics. I don’t blame Mississippi for trying to protect themselves. Flirting with Florida is one thing, but having your family go on official visit to a direct rival is something else

Pride is a deadly sin for a reason.
While I agree with you to an extent, they need to remember their place in the football hierarchy. Ole Mrs is not a final destination type program

I think they 100% should give him a deadline despite what the braindead people on here say, but you are right, the 28th is too long with how things are accelerating.

Regardless, I think he decides this week. Letting it linger until after the Egg would make things too caustic.

If Kiffin and Sexton intentionally string along two suitors while having an agreement to stay that would hurt both of them in the future, and Sexton has way too many clients to let that happen.

Absolutely wrong. I can’t believe this mindset is so pervasive on this board.

They just want to make sure they dont handicap themselves when looking for a new coach. Thats all it seems like to me. No revenge or anger, just trying to make OM gets their new guy in the midst of all the other great openings including Auburn, Arkansas, Penn state and possibly even Fla State.

I think it’s perfect. Ole Miss isn’t a big enough dog to say “choose now or we’re moving on”. 10 days let’s Lane do his flirting but doesn’t put them behind in finding a replacement if they have to.

That’s fine. But what if Lane just says frick it and ignores the deadline. What’s ole miss going to do?

What is lunacy is giving a deadline in the first place. Don't believe I would work under that strategy

He’s under contract until 2031 and making a lot of money, and his team is going to 100% be in the playoffs possibly with a first round bye.

His family went and visited two other conference teams during the season despite all that.

OM has every right to demand clarity so that if they are left they can salvage their program as quickly as possible

That’s exactly what’s happening.

I know it’s popular to beat up on OM and maybe they didn’t go about this in the smartest way possible, but OM had to do/say something.

They’re not exactly some mid-tier G5 program. They’re an SEC team that is playoff bound. They can be successful and relevant, but they are a program that needs a high-end coach to do so.

If that’s not going to be Lane, they need to join the coach search circus ASAP. They can’t afford leftover re-treads. The ambiguity that Lane is creating isn’t good for them so they need to at least try to get some clarity.

There are some variables here. I think they could work with this though, assuming some ground rules and Kiffin does a good job of getting the team to keep fighting for him.

Most of those kids are getting paid too and a lot of them have jumped schools for more money. They might be more understanding than you think.
