1. Greece
Based on the report released by Statista as of March 2025, Greek cuisine tops the global list, celebrated for its use of olive oil, herbs, fresh vegetables, grilled meats, moussaka, souvlaki, feta, and baklava. Flavorful yet simple recipes reflect the country's Mediterranean roots and are central to Greek culture.

2. Italy
Holding second position, Italy follows closely with beloved dishes like pizza, pasta, risotto, gelato, and tiramisu. Italian food’s international fame comes from the use of high-quality ingredients and traditions such as Neapolitan pizza and regional olive oils; comfort and richness define its cuisine.

3. Mexico
Mexican cuisine is praised for its vibrant flavours and diverse influences—corn, beans, chilli, tacos, tamales, and mole. Traditional techniques merge indigenous and Spanish heritages, creating dishes like enchiladas, guacamole, and pozole that are recognised around the world.

4. Portugal
Portuguese culinary tradition is highlighted by seafood (codfish, sardines), stews, and pastries like pastéis de nata. The cuisine receives acclaim for blending Mediterranean and Atlantic influences, with its robust flavours and simple, rustic preparation.

5. Spain
Spanish cuisine is noted for its tapas, seafood paella, gazpacho, and jamón ibérico. The focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and regional variations—Catalan, Basque, and Andalusian—make Spanish dining celebrated for both its sociability and culinary diversity.

6. Turkey
7. Indonesia
8. France
9. Japan
10. China

List

Of course this is subjective

I like all of the stuff but can't say I've really had a chance to try the cuisine of Portugal

France is too low, and Greece is too high.

I haven't been to France to have a legit enough opinion

I know they're famous for techniques and it's a destination for culinary instruction

Beyond that I just know about whatever "French" cuisine I've had in the states.

Seems sort of superficially goofy.

Kind of a dumb thing to rank, really, especially if you're going to have 50% of the list represented by countries bordering the Mediterranean (60% with Portugal just through the strait).

Spanish, Japanese, and Mexican would be my options...with the US right behind.

I agree with the first five, but maybe not the order. Portugal had better bread than Spain, closer to Italy or France.

And then move it up several places. Thai should be top 5 on any list.

I love Thai , I made a curry tonight. But Indonesian is pretty amazing as well and I've only had it in Amsterdam. I've heard in Indonesia the food is amazing.

Nice list, but I would love to see where Peru was listed.

I have been to France, Italy, Greece and Peru and Peru was tops on my list. The fusion of Asian, Spanish and Quechuan cultures brings it over the top on my list.

I was fascinated with the ancient agricultural techniques yielding thousands of different varieties of corn and potatoes. Peru is the quintessential farm to table country and they have been doing it for generations.

Hang out in the sacred valley and you will understand .

I would put France 1st. In my opinion, Paris is the best restaurant city in the world.

I agree with Italy at 2nd.

I am glad to see Greece so high because I am going there for the first time in a few months.

USA doesn't even make the list???
