Odd movie.
First it seems like a commentary on masks vs no masks. With Joaquin Phoenix deciding to run for mayor as the current sherrif of a small NM county.
Pedro pascal is more woke and very pro mask and the first few minutes of the movie has masker arguments that were a look back on the crazy covid response.
Then the BLM stuff starts off and the movie goes off the rails. Culminating in a fully automatic weapons shootout in the streets.

Idk. Its on HBO max and I was looking for a movie to watch. It wasn't a horrible movie but it wasn't a good one either.
But i hadnt seen it discussed.

We’ve discussed it.
I think you’re reading a bit too much into it. The entire point is that people are shitty. And also… spoilers

It felt like a Coen Bros movie. I liked it. Kind of pokes fun at both sides. Then goes to the extreme with it. It’s funny.

I thought it started off good but gets to be way to “on the nose”. And it felt like it dragged forever. Didn’t care for it

Yes the middle part dragged way too long. Should have been at least a half hour shorter.

I got like 30 minutes in and the absurdity of the covid stuff that we all lived through looked even more idiotic on the big screen and I gave up on it

Upvote this comment if you want to watch a movie set during Covid.

That should explain everything about the popularity of this film.

Spoliers....

One thing I was unclear on....was the elite antifa unit (or whatever it was supposed to be at the end ) sent in by the data company?

Basically no matter who backed them left or right...they were going to win by any means necessary.....I guess was sort of the message.
