So I used to go to Hannah Q and get their bbq baked potato with brisket. $8.80 with tax. Large potato and enough to split with my son or have over two meals. We went today for lunch and placed the same order. Now it’s over $15 after tax. $12 for the potato and a $2 up charge for the meat. What the?

I get raising the price every so often but nearly doubling it? $12 for a baked potato and some cheese and sour cream?

I’m afraid I’m not going back.

That place is ridiculously expensive and the food isn’t that great to begin with

Food prices aren’t coming down. Beef is high due to the prior drought.

Used to buy packer brisket for $2.99/lb and $1.99/lb on sale Now it's $5.99+/lb. Wages and other costs are up. So increases get passed on, or restaurants don't survive.

But the potato went from $6 to $12 according to the current menu pricing. That’s taking advantage of your customer.

Now, you have to pay extra for the brisket (or any meat) on a BBQ potato.

Prices are up across the board. They can’t just raise the beef price, they have to make more profit so they raise anything they can. I’m not white knighting for HannahQ, but I understand why a smaller restaurant is raising prices right now.

Unfortunately, this may be a sign that they may not last. I haven’t found anything amazing about them, but I’d like to see them stay open. I don’t see how many of these places are making it with the commercial rent prices around town.

No the loaded bbq smoked potato with pulled pork or chicken is $12, adding brisket adds $2 to that total.

While I get the sentiment...you aren't just paying for the potato, some cheese and some sour cream. You are paying for margin, overhead, etc.

And a $2 upcharge for meat is just a pretty smart pricing concept. You're more likely to pay for the meat upcharge at $2 on a $12 potato than you are to pay a $5 upcharge on a $9 potato. They are pricing it to get you to do that.

But I do get the overall sentiment of the increased prices; everything is going up, especially in labor costs and food costs.

Restaurants are dropping left and right and it’s because of labor costs. Kitchen labor is up 50% since Covid.

During the shutdown, the government was giving free money to anyone that would take it. The labor pool became impossibly small because why would anyone work with free money being given to them? Restaurants still had to pay rent, utilities, etc. so they did to-go only. Finding workers was impossible and started offering more money in efforts to get employees to come to work. Now, workers aren’t just going to go back to pre-Covid hourly rates.

Another big problem is Amazon opening two large warehouses and the food delivery apps. A lot of former kitchen workers work for Amazon and driving for DoorDash/Uber Eats. Both of those are paying ~$20/hour.

Your potato is $12 now because the guy cooking it used to make $10-12/hour and now probably makes $16-18. People keep saying things like “well, I buy potatoes at the store for…” and are missing the entire point.

Yea, I think we are getting away from the days where you can open a restaurant and hire people to do everything with little oversight. Now you need to be heavily involved with all the processes of running the kitchen.

There’s no reason to go to Hannah Q with Offset right down the road.

I read on this board years ago that HannahQ had really good fried chicken.

Got some from the Prairieville location, it was so greasy it actually soaked through the paper bag the handed it to me in.

Never been back.

I like their food but their prices keep going up. Even in the last 5 months their entrees and apps have gone up few dollars.

Their website is showing it as $12 for your choice of chicken, pulled pork, or turkey. $2 extra if you want brisket.

I feel like $15 or something that feeds you twice is not the worst in 2025.

That's all bbq placees now. You won't get out of there for less than $20 if you want a plate. Brisket is damn near $40 per pound at bbq restaurants. Absurd.
