Anybody have any recommendations for outdoor lights?? The Opticores are being shoved in my face but they're not cheap. Should I go big or go buy cheap ones at HD?? Thanks for the help!

You use them once a year. Go cheap

Go with the opticore over the cheap bulbs from HD.

Opticore, no doubt. I bought mine 5 years ago and love them. If you seen opticore in person, you would regret not getting them.

If you go with opticore, they are much cheaper from sites that are not Amazon. I would take that into account if making a decision.

To me there was nothing like the old C9 lights on the house in the 70s/80s.
We had the C7 lights on the tree inside.

Company out of Utah, Tru-Tone, makes LED C7 and C9 bulbs that achieve that nostalgic warm glow that modern LEDs do not (most of the "warm white" LED bulbs nowadays are still on the cooler side). I bought some this year and they rock. Not cheap though, about 1.50 per bulb.

I still use these. I got them at Hobby Lobby 14 years ago.

Best Place to Get them
They have great customer service as well. Quality all day when buying lights that you absolutely need to work year after year without worrying about what's going to work and what won't when installing.

Because of everyone's recommendations, I bought some smooth C9 Opticore bulbs.
Ready to swap out 150 bulbs this weekend!

Christmas Lights Etc, is where I got mine from. Went with the Opticore C7 in faceted warm white.
I also bought some of the flex filament (Vintage look) for the front porch lights, in a couple different colors and warm white, but opted for the flicker flame

Do any of y'all use WLED and a power supply to do Christmas lights? It's probably too late for me to learn it this year but I'm thinking about picking up some C9s early next year and figuring it out

I have an old set of C9-1/2 bulbs that I bought at an antique store. No clue what the difference between those and C9 bulbs might be.
Not a fan of LED bulbs - too bright and cold.
yea - I am a boomer...

I have about 100’ of white C9s I pit on my house and peaks. I had bought the roll online somewhere years ago and I just buy a box or 2 of c9 replacement bulbs from Amazon. They old school look but white.
I do get gbag warm fuzzy memories of Christmas as a kid when I see the actually colored ones though

I hung my lights today and they look fantastic!! I'm impressed with the quality of the Opticore bulbs. Might be ordering some more soon.
