Trump supporters have been conned so thoroughly I don't think they can ever admit it.

Small government, taking America back from the elites, lowering the deficit, Christian values. These are all honorable things I salute people for supporting.
Trump sent a birthday card with a graphic illustration of an underage child to a known sex predator.
Trump had a known sex predator (GM) transferred to a more comfortable prison.
This is immediately disqualifying for a leader. I don't even have to mention the dumb tariffs, the government taking equity stakes in corporations, the president having the DOJ investigate his political enemies. Things that are blatantly contrary to well regarded conservative values.
I'm on the left, but, Obama, Clinton, Harris, they are all different shades of chicken shite and I don't like 'em. I can like Bernie some but his policy is bad.
It's really hard for people to admit they were conned or believed the wrong thing. 10 years from now I think most will claim they didn't really support Trump. Anything but admit they were fooled.
I look forward to being called gay, I view it as implicit admission of being conned and a step forward!

But for those of you who’ve been saying this stuff for a decade now…the country hasn’t fallen apart. No Americans are being dragged into gas chambers like the Nazis did.
Other than higher living costs, my life hasn’t really changed in ten years, except for my family getting older, obviously.
Everything you’ve been warning about, all the doom and gloom about what was “going to happen” to the country… hasn’t happened. And it won’t….because checks and balances exist, even if all of them are as corrupt as we know they ALL are on both sides.
But sure, keep crying and screaming. It all falls on deaf ears, just like it has for the last ten years of you and your side whining.

Regarding COVID.. I think there were lies regarding masking, that was bad and the consequences of it were very bad. Regarding the lockdowns, at the time I didn't really know what the answer should be for schools but I was more on the side of having kids in the classroom. I think that's definitely a place the left got it wrong.
To me there was a clear line between delta and omicron. Delta was very deadly and I think we should have done more in that time period to protect essential workers even at the cost of the economy. Post delta is where I think the left became increasingly wrong.
The COVID money that went to small business owners, I forgot the name of that program, that was 100% a travesty. May have even started under Trump, I don't remember.
