Why would anyone have downplayed Nuss's injuries?

From the underthrown Louisiana Tech interception onward it appeared that Nuss had some injury. For his sake, why would you downplay his injury? The only other explanation is that he lacks even the passing ability (he obviously lacks the mental ability) to be a first day NFL draft pick.

We know he has the passing ability. We saw it all last year.

I think the coaches realized that he gives them a better chance to win games. They do not want to publish the extent of his injuries as this could be used against him and his team. Defenses could hit him in his injured spot to knock him out of the game. They might also realize what he cannot do and play accordingly.

He believes he is better than he actually is and no-one in his camp had the balls to tell him the truth.

Frank Wilson has the balls.

I don’t know but I’m convinced his agent (who is Brian Kelly’s agent) and/or his NIL contract had something to do with it. Maybe by contract he had to have a certain amount of starts to get paid so they kept trotting him out there hurt to get the money. Who knows but there is no way they thought we could win with this version of him. Any idiot could see he can’t play. Don’t see how this season didn’t tank his draft stock.

Ohhhh it was just a known fact that Nussmeier wasn’t hurt on this board.

If you even mentioned it some folks got very heated about it and I am not sure why.

this was an eye opener for me. That was td easy and throw lacked velocity and air.

No injury can explain the very poor decisions that he makes.

Haslett denied Aaron Brooks had an injury. Then Brooks had surgery in the offseason which is odd since he wasn't hurt.

Certainly not all of them, but it has to weigh on some of his decisions. Couple that with the mentality that accompanies a downward spiral, you begin pressing and making bad decisions, forcing plays, thinking you will climb out of a hole, while instead you just dig yourself deeper.

Yup. Could tell in the ole Miss game there was nothing on his throws. His passes were nothing like last year until recently.

Coach is supposed to protect player from himself

John Abraham of the Falcons aimed his helmet right at Drew Brees’ knee causing an injury.

Brees wore a brace on his knee most of the season and he and the Saints downplayed or ignored questions about an injury.

Brees had a very quiet procedure in the offseason on the knee.

Can you name another major player in the last 20 years much less qb who had a nagging injury not spend a single second in the tent and got zero trainers attention on the sidelines all season?

No he didn’t. He trotted out the same Nuss vs Bama. Nuss quietly opting out now for optics. If Frank had the balls, Nuss wouldn’t have played vs Bama.

From my understanding is you can’t really do much about it in the middle of a game. Unless you want them to go tape up his abdomen and rub some icy hot on it. I could be wrong though since they have actually said what the injury is.

They never examined him to see if it “worsened” during games when he’s gotten twisted and stretched which is what they are claiming happened this week.

I’m just saying.

For a guy who has a performance limiting injury who is also limping around all the time no one has acted like he’s hurt including the trainers

And he’s a QB. It doesn’t add up.

I guess my point is that I don’t know that there’s and examination that they do on the sideline for an injury like that besides asking “how do you feel?” It’s not like they were trying to diagnose him with a new injury, they already knew what was wrong.

The part that doesn’t make sense to me is that the people that are claiming he was never injured haven’t come up with a reason that he was being held out of practices during fall camp for a “pitch count” that’s not normal for a QB either.

- He is hurt
- He is not a mobile QB
- His line is crap (even the good QBs in the NFL can’t win without a line).
- All of these add up to his performance. He will be an nfl pocket QB, not saying he will be a good one but he will get his shot.

We can all agree the change should have been made earlier but NIL makes football a different animal and Kelly could not manage that aspect on many different fronts (plain and simple).
