Pretty solid start for a high school senior under an immense amount of pressure playing against a pro field. Starting at University of Miami next fall and will play golf there.

Dang last place, she’s a good golfer and still in high school so I’m sure she’ll take this as a good learning experience for the future.

Super impressive.
Even the 83 for a high schooler in a pro event is insane. The 75 is unreal

There are a shite ton of high school golfers that would break 80 in a pro event

I went down and watched them play on Thursday. Those girls are amazing. Linn Grant is leading the tournament going into the final round. She is averaging 302 off of the tee. Jennifer Kuocho is second and averaging 296. Julia Lopez Ramirez is the longest hitter on the LPGA. She won the SEC individual title twice on the same course, and she is back in the pack at 30th after a rough day one.
The talent on the tour is top notch. This was my first LPGA event in person, and I was super impressed.

Morgan Pressel almost won the Women’s US Open at 17 years old.
Michelle Wie nearly made a PGA tour cut as a teenager

See below. It's not a stretch to say tons could do the same.

She is also ranked number 461 in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) rankings

She’s only played in three amateur tournaments.

She’s only played in 3 AJGA events, she’s played plenty of am events.
She shouldn’t have ever been in that LPGA event.
Her name got her in, same with the Sage Valley Junior Invitational, where she was also DFL.
She’s not even ranked in WAGR.

Dude 75% of D1 commits could break 83 at a pro event as a high school senior

Dud She did shoot 75 on her second round. First time playing a pro event with galleries and cameras everywhere she shot an 83 which wasn’t unexpected. Having played numerous amateur tournaments myself they aren’t exactly well attended by spectators. In fact most have almost no spectators.

No one paying any attention believes these types of sponsor exemptions are put in to be competitive. It's 100% name recognition to get eyes on the tournament. And that's okay. She's not "taking someone else's spot", because it's not like they were planning to give it to some other golfer who had a chance to win. The spot is specifically for the tournament sponsor to use in order to get more attention on the event. Same thing with that Grant Horvat issue. No one thinks they are pro level, but they bring eyes.

Everything wrong with the world is all the people tearing her down because she shouldn’t have been there instead of congratulating her for a great second round.

She’s a very nice and well liked kid - the issue from other top juniors is she is getting spots that others deserve in these events and other top ones - namely Sage Valley or if she gets into ANWA… I get both sides and for her - if my daughter had those connections of course I’d be for that too
Bottom line is as someone in this world a bit - everything I understand is she’s a nice and respectful young lady - she’s not Rose Zhang talent wise - but who cares - as long as she’s a good kid and bringing light to the sport - good on her… she gets great opportunities and dos her best and has a great attitude..
Asterisk is also a very good kid from a great family and she will do down as one of the best ever - she’s a year younger… big time rooting for her too

no they couldn't. D! womens golf is full of average golfers. It's one of the easiest sports for girls to get an athletic scholarship. A lot of schools struggle to even fill all their available scholarships. There are 249 schools that compete in D1 and 8 girls on each team. That's approximately 2000 D1 golfers. No, 1500 of those aren't easily shooting 75-83 in a pro event. Just go look at some of the amateur sponsors invites and see how they typically perform
Chayse Gomez a golfer at Oregon St shot 79-80 at the Chevron this year. At the same tournament, Jeneath Wong of Pepperdine shot 78-76. Erica Shepard of Duke shot 81-80 at the Mexico Riviera and Clarisa Temelo from Arkansas shot 79-81

My person opinion - no - 75% would not break 83 - if you shrunk it to Power 4 schools and a few group of 5 conferences then yes - I’d say 65% of those recruits would shoot the same or better… there are 300+ D1 golf programs it’s not like D1 football - and also keep in mind elite schools like top ivy programs regularly sign top 250 Rolex Ranked Players

Asterisk Talley and Mia Hammond both were up for the exemptions… and they likely would have done better
