NOLA vs Metairie Country Club

I don’t understand why there is a separate New Orleans and Metairie country club.
What is the difference between the two of these? They are so close to one another you can hit a ball from one course to the other.
I also don’t understand how either can survive when we have city park and Audubon golf courses which I imagine are much nicer.
Country clubs always seemed to be overpriced places with mediocre courses and mediocre food.

Country Clubs are like ‘tribes.’ Social organizations, adult fraternities if you will. People want to ‘belong’ and have ‘status.’ It’s justified as entertainment, tennis, golf, pool, social, for the kids, etc.
Wives like the social, snobbery, etc. Men like the networking.
If you want or need that, they are great. Not necessary, but can be fun, and add value to your life. If not, do something else.

They let me play on Audubon.. so no, it isn't that nice.
Scenery is top notch though.

Ever notice all the dads drinking in the pool and never get out to piss?

The right answer.

Oh yes, my daughter likes to go in the kids pool on occasion; so I figure that's gotta have more pee in it than the regular pool.
I try not to think about it too much

Definitely old money vs. newer money. I’d say one is more private and more restrictive, thus more exclusive and prestigious. This is a common distinction among clubs

This is a dumb post... Why is there a CVS right across the street from a Walgreens? Why is there a Macy's and a Dillard's at the same mall? Why is there a Burger King next door to a McDonalds?

MCC is probably one of the best courses in the state after the renovation they got a few years back

NOCC doesn’t allow blacks and MCC does. Both nice courses post upgrade. NOCC has more “character” to the course I would say

Second best course in the state and it’s not particularly close in my opinion
