I know I'm in the minority but stand by it.
People keep speaking of the LSU brand being damaged. Lane does not help that. Class and respect can be maintained while winning with the right selection.
I want to win as badly as any of you but don't want a troll leading the show.

I don’t want to pay a coach like Drinkwitz top 5 money with a huge buyout. If those are my choices pay Lane please. Drinkwitz is around the 10th highest paid coach right now. Screw that noise for Eli frickin’ Drinkwitz. I’d rather get a younger hungry coach instead of Drinkwitz.

I’ll be happy if it’s Kiffin

But I certainly won’t be sad or disappointed if it’s not Kiffin. I think LSU, - this particular hire this cycle - needs a “me and my team/staff will NOT be out-worked Sunday-Friday” type of coach. And I don’t think Kiffin is that guy. I also think after BK we need a coach with an energy edge, and that’s really not Kiffin’s style. His style is more laid-back players coach, we’re gonna outscheme you kind of style. LSU needs a coach that’s gonna make us tough and physical again, as we’ve gotten soft as a program under BK.

None of that to say Kiffin is a bad coach… he’s clearly a good coach. Just not sure Kiffin is what this program needs right now.

I want Lane. But $16M/year is crazy.

I can respect that point of view.

Who do you suggest they hire?

The big 3 that Shea said today are Lane, Freeman, and Drink.

I have a hard time seeing Freeman leave, especially for us. Drink is good but too expensive for what he brings.

Great response, LSUdick. The content of your response and football knowledge is brilliant.

I hope it’s Lane unless it’s a 9 year, $120M contract.

Word is that wherever he ends up (LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, or NFL), he'll be making at least $15M/year, maybe more.

I like Kiffin… I really do…. But IMO Florida or Ole Miss can have him at that price tag.

LSU doesn’t need the hottest coach on the market at the highest price tag. LSU needs a good coach that is going to work his arse off 24/7/365

Same. There was a thread last week about Eric Morris—I at least hope he’s being considered.

This is a great indication that we should hire Kiffin.
